F. A. LEAVITT, Fire x Escapes, 39 EXCHANGE ST., PORTLAND, ME.

Leavitt's Patent Awning.

I have received patent on Awning, dated March 15th, 1892, the principle on which it is worked being a decided improvement on all others now in use for house and office pur- poses.

The Advantages are as Follows:

The sliding rods and slides are done away with. It is the only Awning that can be satisfactorily arranged for ventilation of rooms. By unhooking the side from which the air is stirring and hooking on under side of Awning, leaving the opposite side down, the air will strike that side and flow into the room, on the same principle of a wind sail in use on board of vessels. It comes lower down on window and does not project out so far, has a much better appearance from the street, it is much better adapted for resisting high winds, and when set, looks as though it was made over a block or form. When pulled up it goes to top of window, the sides going up with it, giving you all the light on a dark day. The old style covers, in a large number of cases, a great part of the upper sash when hauled up, shutting out the light and collecting the dust and dirt from the street. Directions for putting up go with all orders out of the city, where it is not convenient for me to attend to it. I am very well satisfied that all parties requiring Awnings will select this after examination, in preference to all others now in use. Please call and examine.
