CHURCH and HOME INSURANCE
RGANIZED by order of the General Conference of 1896. Has increased the protection to its policyholders during 1917 by almost THREE MILLION DOLLARS ($3,000,000.00). Total amount of insurance written since business began nearly ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY MILLION DOLLARS ($170,000,000.00). Of this amount more than FORTY-TWO AND ONE HALF MILLION DOLLARS ($42,500,000) is now in force. Policies held in all parts of the United States including Alaska. Why continue to contribute to the funds of stock companies, when this, your own organization, in its twentieth year, protects Churches, Parsonages, Homes and House- hold Goods of Preachers, Hospitals, School Buildings, Dwellings and Personal Effects of members who build and sustain church properties. Premiums may be paid in easy annual installments or, if paid in advance, a special reduction is allowed for such prepayment. PROTECTION AT ACTUAL COST AND UPON EASY
A WINDSTORM LOSS! PRACTICAL TERMS. NO ASSESSMENTS.
Remember that all materials and labor entering into construction of build- ings cost far more now than formerly. Arz your Home and Church Prop- erties insured up to three-quarters of their value? If not, a telegram requesting a definite amount of pro- tection on property named will result in our binding the insurance pending the arrival of particulars and agree- ment as to rates, or bring an explana- tion, if for any reason we cannot com- ply. Over $1,200,000.00 paid for losses. NOT ONE DOLLAR EVER DUE AND UNPAID.

Twenty years
Of Experience
in extending the usefulness of this organizatión wisely ordered by the General Con- ference of: 1896.
Last year through the printer's mistake a surgical operation was performed upon our two-page advertisement, part of which appeared on the inside back cover of the Minutes and the rest of it several pages away. Perhaps the printer thought this a natural arrangement in view of the illustration of the cyclone loss.
Again it is a pleasure to report a gain of approximately THREE MILLION DOLLARS in our business during the last twelve months. Laymen throughout the country have availed themselves of the opportunity to insure AT COST in the company that carries their churches and parsonages, to the extent of approximately THREE AND ONE HALF MILLION DOLLARS.
Such properties are insured for the reason that, the loss ratio on such risks being less than on churches, they favorably affect our total average loss ratio, not- withstanding the fact that the terms we are able to use are much better than those of the stock companies with their necessarily more expensive system. We avoid the conflagration hazard so often fatal to stock companies and the special hazards such a's saw mills and other manufacturing risks.
During the nearly twenty years since we began business we have issued policies aggregating approximately > ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY MILLION DOLLARS. This enormous amount of protection has been extended from time to' time to our members upon terms that were easily met, the expense being scattered evenly throughout the years covered by their policies, over FORTY-TWO AND ONE-HALF MILLION DOLLARS of which is now in force. Although nearly ONE AND ONE-QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS of losses have been sustained, in no instance has one dollar been due and unpaid.
In addition to providing our members with absolutely dependable insurance upon terms that are much to their interest, we are constantly helping to raise the standard of building; avoid unnecessary losses through the activities of our inspec- tion department, and bring home to the custodians of our church properties the fact that it is not right for them to permit more than one-quarter of the value of any Methodist church or parsonage to be without insurance. Careful business men would not think of putting themselves in position to lose, in the event of a fire or windstorm, more than that proportion. No competent and conscientious trustee or other custodian of our properties would intentionally neglect his duty when it comes to looking after others' interests instead of just his own. Courts have held at" times that trustees of secular property were personally liable for neglecting to carry adequate insurance. Those responsible for the churches and parsonages face, in addition, tremendous reasons for being "prepared".

Welch's Grape Juice
TN the beginning Welch's the pure unfermented juice of Chau- tauqua Concords, was made to supply an unfermented juice for the sacrament. For more than forty years this "Fruit of the Vine" has so been used in churches of many denominations, with entire satisfac- tion.
Physicians and pure food author- ities testify to the purity and health- fulness of Welch's. It is just the pure, unfermented juice of choicest Concords. Today you will find Welch's being used increasingly as a safe beverage in the home and where temperance drinks are sold.
Order through your Dealer, specifying Welch's. Sample 4- oz. bottle (price 10 cents) mailed on request.
