The foregoing report contains a synopsis of our financial transactions for the past official year, which we respectfully submit to the inhabitants of Alton. The winter highway work exceeds last year's expenditure by $708 49. A balance of $523 14 on the permanent improvement fund for the highways remains unexpended. Work bad been contem- plated, but on account of the scarcity of labor during the fall months, plans were not executed. This amount is charged against the town as a liability to be used for its original pur- pose in 1908. The town debt has been reduced $3,010 30.

Respectfully submitted,

CHARLES H. McDUFFEE, Selectmen

LEWIS H. LAMPREY, of

FRANK M. AYER, Alton

We, the undersigned, having examined the foregoing account, find it properly vouched and correctly cast.
