Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Roch- ester, as follows:


Amend paragraph 11 of said section, relating to the salary of the City Marshal, by striking out the words "one thousand dollars," in the first line thereof and inserting in place thereof the words "twelve hund- red," so that said paragraph as amended shall read as follows :


"The City Marshal, twelve hundred dollars, pay- able monthly from the Police Department."


Amend paragraph 12 of said section, relating to the salary of the Assistant Marshal, by striking out the word "nine" in the first line thereof and inserting in place thereof the word "eleven" so that said para- graph as amended shall read as follows:


"The Assistant Marshal, eleven hundred dollars, payable monthly from the Police Department."


Amend paragraph 13, relating to the salary of the Night Watch, by striking out the words "eight hundred and fifty," in the first and second lines thereof and inserting in place thereof the words "nine hundred dollars" so that said paragraph as amended shall read as follows :

"The sum of six dollars per day shall be paid for the labor of a double team, the same shall consist of a driver, two horses and wagon or implement necessary to perform a day's labor. Nine hours, exclusive of the time going to and from work shall constitute a day's work. Preference to be given to residents of the city."

Resolved by the City Council of the City of Rochester:


That the owners of the poles that are located in the middle of Charles Street entrance of Academy and Knight Streets be notified to change the locations of said poles so that they may be located on the sides of the streets and that the City Clerk be instructed to notify said Company of the action of this Council.

RESOLUTION TO REPRINT MUNICIPAL BONDS.


Resolved by the City Council of the City of Rochester:


That, whereas, under authority of and in compli- ance with Public Laws of 1917, Chapter 129, the City Council, by resolution passed May 1, 1917, authorized $210,000 serial bonds for the purpose of refunding indebtedness of the city represented by demand notes outstanding on April 10, 1917, amounting to $208,554 .- 79, as stated in said resolution, but on said date in fact amounting to $207,621.79, said bonds being payable

WHEREAS of said $210,000 serial bonds, $158,000 bonds in the form above set forth in denominations of $100, $200, $500 and $1,000 have been issued, said bonds maturing $14,000 in each of the years 1918 to 1923 inclusive; $13,900 in 1924; $11,000 in 1925; $10,000 in 1926; $8,900 in 1927; $5,500 in 1928; none in 1929; $12,800 in 1930; $5,600 in 1931; $6,300 in 1932; and


WHEREAS said $158,000 bonds have been duly stamped as follows :

WHEREAS the remaining $52,000 of said $210,000 bonds have been duly sold to Harris, Forbes & Com- pany, Inc. of Boston, Mass., but have not yet been issued as a question has been raised as to the suffi- ciency of the form of the bond already prepared. And it is deemed expedient to reprint said bonds in ap- proved form.


Now, THEREFORE,


Resolved: That said entire issue of bonds be re- printed, bearing interest at the rate of four (4) per centum per annum, payable semi-annually, in coupon form, but registerable as to principal, dated with the same date and with the same aggregate maturities each year as already provided in said resolution of May 1, 1917, signed by the Mayor and countersigned by the City Treasurer and the City Clerk, with cou- pons annexed bearing the facsimile signature of the Treasurer, other particulars as to the form and issu- ance of said bonds not inconsistent herewith, or with legal requirements, to be determined by the Finance Committee and the City Treasurer; further


Resolved: That of said issue $158,000 bonds be issued only in exchange for the bonds already issued, each bond so given in exchange representing an equiv- alent obligation as to both principal and interest as the bond or bonds surrendered. Each bond, together with all unmatured coupons thereon so surrendered in ex- change, shall be cancelled by the City Treasurer in the presence of the Finance Committee and a record of the same be made thereof in the City Register, signed by

the City Clerk, City Treasurer, and by said Finance Committee showing the numbers, amounts and matur- ities of the bonds so cancelled with their coupons at- tached. Said bonds when so cancelled shall be kept by the City Clerk; further


Resolved: That the sale of the unissued balance of $52,000 of said bonds to Harris, Forbes & Company, Inc., be and the same is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved, said bonds maturing, $100 in 1924; $3,000 in 1925; $4,000 in 1926; $5,100 in 1927; $8,500 in 1928; $14,000 in 1929; $1,200 in 1930; $8,400 in 1931 and $7,700 in 1932, and that bonds to said amount as already prepared, with the coupons annexed thereto, be "cancelled as never issued" and bonds in the new form above designated be issued to Harris, Forbes & Company, Inc., in substitution for said original bonds ; further


Resolved: That in addition to the amount to be raised by said resolution of May 1, 1917, from the tax levy of 1918 for the payment of the interest on said bonds and the principal of the $14,000 falling due in 1918, such further sums shall be raised from said tax levy as may be necessary in addition to the proceeds of said bonds to pay the principal and interest of all said demand notes and the cost of preparing and printing said bonds ; further


Resolved: That said resolutions of May 1 and October 2, 1917, in all respects not inconsistent here- with, and all acts done or performed under authority of said resolutions be and the same are hereby ratified, confirmed and approved.

RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR BETTER VOT- ING FACILITIES IN WARD FOUR.


Resolved by the City Council of the City of Rochester:


That the Mayor and Committee on Public Build- ings in conjunction with the Committee on Fire De- partment and the Board of Engineers be instructed to investigate as to the feasibility of making changes in Cocheco Hose House so that the voting booths may be permanently set up in such voting place.

RESOLUTION TO RAISE MONEY IN ANTICIPA- TION OF TAXES.


Resolved by the City Council of the City of Rochester:


That the Mayor and Committee on Finance be authorized to hire on note or notes of the city, an additional amount of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) providing it is necessary to do so, said amount to be hired in anticipation of taxes and to be taken up at the earliest possible date that the balance in the treasury will permit.

AMENDMENT TO ORDINANCE, RELATING TO SEWER CONNECTIONS.


Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Roch- ester, as follows:


That we amend Section 10 of Chapter XXVII, re- lating to Sewerage, by striking out the word "fifteen"

in the twelfth line thereof and inserting in place there- of the word "twenty-five," so that said section as amended shall read as follows :


SECTION 10. All applications for the construction of Sewers for private use and their entrance with the public sewers, and for permission to enter the same, shall be in such form as the Committee on Sewers shall prescribe, and be filed with the superintendent. He shall determine the place and manner of connecting, all such sewers with the public sewers, and so much of all sewers for private use are within the street limits, and their entrance into the public sewers, shall be constructed, maintained and kept in repair by him or his employees, and be the property of the city ; but the sum of twenty-five dollars toward the cost and use thereof, shall be paid by the applicant therefor.


Also amend Section 14 of said Chapter, by strik- ing out the word "fifteen" in the fourth -line thereof and inserting in place thereof the word "twenty-five" so that said section as amended shall read as follows :


SEC. 14. The superintendent shall in all cases re- quire that the applicant for sewers for private use shall produce a certificate from the City Clerk, that the sum of twenty-five dollars has been paid for the construc- tion of such sewer from the public sewer to the street line before any sewer for private use shall be laid; and he may also require, before he begins work upon the construction of a private sewer from the street line to any building, a like certificate of the deposit of the amount of the estimated cost thereof, and likewise a satisfactory guarantee that the actual cost of such con- struction will be paid in full on the completion of the work.

RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR STREET SPRINKLING ON PINE STREET.


Resolved by the City Council of the City of Rochester:


That the Sprinkling Precinct be enlarged to in- clude all of Pine Street to the easterly boundary of land of L. E. Goodwin, and land abutting thereon by begin- ning at the present boundaries of said precinct at the junction of Pine street with North Main Street and extending along said Pine Street at the easterly boun- dary of land of L. E. Goodwin ; and to pay the expense of said sprinkling that a tax be assessed and collected upon the lots abutting upon said Pine Street, within these limits and against the several owners thereof, in the same manner as the other tax of said precinct is assessed and collected.

AMENDMENT TO ORDINANCE, RELATING TO THE PAY OF LABORERS.


Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Roch- ester, as follows:


That paragraph 32 of Section 1 of Chapter XXIV of the City Ordinances of the City of Rochester as amended February 12, 1918, be further amended by striking out the words "two dollars and fifty cents" in the fifth line thereof and inserting in place thereof the following :

That Section 1 of Chapter XXIV of the Revised Ordinances relating to Salaries of City Officers be amended by striking out the words "two dollars and fifty and three dollars," in paragraph 27 of said sec- tion, and inserting in place thereof the words "three dollars and three dollars and fifty cents," so that said paragraph as amended shall read as follows:


"Each member of the Board of Supervisors of the Check List three dollars per day of actual service, ex- cept the chairman who shall receive three dollars and fifty cents per day, payable annually from the Salary Department."


Also amend paragraph 28 of said section by strik- ing out the word "three" and inserting in place thereof

Resolved by the City Council of the City of Rochester:


That the members of the Police Department be given a vacation of one week with pay, the same to be under the direction of the Mayor.

RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE PAY OF FOREST FIRE FIGHTERS.


Resolved by the City Council of the City of Rochester:


That the pay of all call men including the wardens used for our protection in fighting forest fires be as follows :


"The wardens shall receive fifty cents per hour, the men under said warden shall receive forty cents per hour. The pay rolls for said fire shall be made up by the chief engineer and passed to the Committee on Claims and Accounts on the Monday following the date of each fire. Said chief engineer shall at the same time make duplicates of such pay rolls to be rendered as statements to the proper officials whose departments share in the payment for such service.

That paragraph 16 of Section 1 of Chapter 24 of the City Ordinances as amended July 11, 1917, and as amended February 12, 1918, be further amended by striking out the words "nine hundred dollars and the words eight hundred and twenty-two dollars" and in- serting in the place of each word "three dollars" per day. So that said section as amended shall read as follows :


"The Chief Engineer of the Fire Department one thousand dollars, the first Auto Driver three dollars per day, and the second Auto Driver three dollars per day, payable monthly from the Fire Department."

Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Roch- ester, as follows:


That we amend Section 8 of Chapter V of the Re- vised Ordinance of the City of Rochester relating to the pay of Special Policemen by striking out the words "two dollars and twenty-five cents" and inserting in place thereof the words "three dollars" so that said section as amended will read as follows :


SECTION 8. "Special Policemen may at any time be appointed by the Mayor and when confirmed by the Council shall serve without pay except when ordered on duty, when they receive three dollars per day."

Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Roch- ester, as followss


That during the two middle days of the Rochester Fair, so called, in each year the following streets shall be used by the public for the passage of vehicles as one way streets, and the transportation of any vehicle over them, except in the following directions, is hereby forbidden, to wit: Hanson Street from Central Square to Central Avenue; Central Avenue from Hanson Street to Portland Street ; North Main Street from Cen-

tral Square to Bridge Street ; Bridge Street from North Main Street to River Street; River Street from Bridge Street to Lafayette Street; Lafayette Street from River Street to Brattle Street; Brattle Street from Lafayette Street to Chestnut Street; Chestnut Street from Brattle Street to River Street; River Street from La- fayette Street to North Main Street above Stone Bridge; North Main Street from River Street to Union Street; Union Street from North Main Street to Wakefield Street.

Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Roch- ester, as follows:


That Section 13 of Chapter XXI be amended by inserting after the word "purposes" in the fourth line thereof, the following :


"And no person shall boat or bathe in the Reser- voir, so called, that is used by the City of Rochester as a source of water supply for domestic purposes ; and no person shall fish in said Reservoir except during the period of time the City Council shall by vote grant permission to the public to fish therein," so that said section as amended shall read as follows :
