WILLIAM MELENDY.

Report of School Board.

(For Year ending February 15, 1917.)

At the annual district meeting held March 8, 1916, Mr. Wm. Melendy was elected moderator, Mr. Edmund B. Hull clerk, and Miss Mary E. Manning, treasurer for the ensuing year.

Mrs. Bertha E. French was reelected a member of the school board for three years and Mr. Wm. S. Manning was elected a member of the school board, to complete an un- expired term of one year.

A change was made last August in the towns forming our supervisory district, which now consists of New Boston, Goffstown precinct, and Bedford. These towns being near together are favorably located for this purpose.

At a supervisory meeting held in Goffstown last August, Mr. Wm. McDonald was chosen superintendent. He came to us after having had several years' experience and suc- cess in rural work, and we feel confident that the schools will continue to improve under his supervision.

Several of our former teachers were retained this year. An effort has also been made to secure more trained teachers ; all of which has tended to greater efficiency. This is important, as an effort has been made to bring our schools up to grade, as laid out in the state program of study for 1916. Only earnest, efficient teachers can ac- complish this, and our teachers are to be commended for their efforts in this direction.
