est settlers in the east part of the town, and the earliest one who remained in town. He d. Jan. 21, 1807, a. 62 y., and was the first person carried on a hearse in F. He m. Ruth Williams, who d. Sept. 26, 1806, a. 61 y. 6 mos. It is related of Mr. P. that one Sabbath morn- ing he looked southwest of his house over his meadow and saw what he supposed were three horses feeding.
