NOTE .- A weekly issued for the first time on July 28, 1820, Edward M. Murden, publisher, and Joseph T. Murden, editor. With the 36th number, J. Johnson became publisher and W. B. Kinney editor. Jannary 19, 1821, Gorham A. Hull became printer, remaining with Kinney until June 21, 1822, when James E. Gore took his place, being succeeded on March 28, 1823, by Daniel A. Cameron. In May, 1825, Kinney gave way to Moses Lyon, who was succeeded on July 4, 1828, by T. B. Crowell. The latter became sole editor and proprietor in Angust, 1829. On February 13, 1835, the Eagle became a semi-weekly and in June, 1847, a daily, under name of the Newark Morning Eagle. At this time Crowell resigned in favor of a son who united with Mr. Carll, Charles K. Bishop being editor. June 14, 1853, the title was changed to the Newark Daily Eagle. The Know-Nothing politics of Bishop then ruined the circulation and the paper died.
