NOTE. - Although the present organization of this school dates from 1792 and has pre-Revolutionary antecedents, yet the above is the earliest catalogue found. The school was incorporated in 1795 and rechartered in 1855. A Young Ladies' Department was added in 1802, which became in 1809 a separately conducted organization, and has heen noted under date 1810. (See Appendix). A circular of the school issued in 1844 has also been noted. (See Appendix. ) In 1858 the Academy was moved to its present site, under the principalship of Dr. F. A. Adams, who issued the above catalogue. In 1859 Dr. S. A. Farrand became Headmaster, and his first catalogues were entitled "Annual Circulars," with catalogue and programme of instruction. The older title has since been reverted to; while a " Circular of Information " has since 1892 been issued in addition to the regular catalogue.
