Mrs. Katie Baranausky
Mrs. Katie Baranausky, aged 48 years, died early Wednesday morn- ing at her home at 25 Bowne Ave- nue. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the Freeman Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. John A. Kucker, pastor of St. Rose of Lima Catho- fic Church. Due to Holy Week, the service cannot be held in the church. Burial will be made in the Freehold Catholic Cemetery. Joseph Botts
Mrs. Orville Goff of Imlaystown, was notified on Wednesday of the death of her father, Joseph Botts of Bordentown, who was drowned in the Delaware river, when his boat was capsized during a cyclonic dis- turbance on that day. He was last secn clinging to his upset boat near the Trenton Marine Terminal. He was a fisherman in Bordentown, and was rowing to Morrisville, Pa., to get another boat from Game Warden William Stackhouse, when ; the storm struck . Although the river has been dredged, the body has not been found. Besides the daughter mentioned, he is survived by a son, Joseph, Jr., and his · mother, of Windsor, and a wife in Bordentown. 1-23-39
Admiral Bristol 4-2342
Word was received here on Tues- day of the death of Vice Admiral Arthur Leroy Bristol, Jr., a cousin of Merrit Bristol Kent, 13 Broad- way. The Navy announced that he had died on Monday, "from natural causes" while in command of a task force in the North Atlantic. 1Admiral Bristol visited here about a year ago.
A native of Charleston, S. C., where he made his home, Admiral Briatol entered the Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1902 and served in the Navy continuously since.
During the World War he was on destroyer duty with the Atlantic Fleet until in the closing months of the war he became alde and Flag secretary of the Commander, Cruiser and Transport Force, At- lantic Flect, in which position he be- came much experienced in convoy work. For his service he was awarded the Navy Cross and the Aimy's Distinguished Service Medal.

Besides! Mrs. Crean, she la survived by one son, City Commissioner Frank Brazo of Long Branch. Mrs. Eva E. Brand, aged 64 years, died on Saturday at Roanoke Rap- ids, North Carolina, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident a week prior. She was the widow of Alexander Brand, formerly chief electrician at the A. & M. Kara- gheusian rug mill here, and she lived at West Freehold. Funeral services were held at her late home on Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Otis VanBrunt of Freehold and Rev. Bruce C. Duvall, pastor of the Freehold Methodist Church, of- ficiating. Interment was made in Maplewood Cemetery in charge of Funeral Director C. H. T. Clayton & Son of Adelphia. She is survived by a nephew, Edward Beard of Leominster, Massachusetts, and several other nephews and nieces.
At the time of the accident, Mrs. Brand was enroute South, with Mrs. Margaret S. Ocker and William Landfield, of West Freehold; and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Errickson of Weat Freehold, who were in an- other car. The accident occurred at a traffic light nt Roanoke Rap- ida, when the car in which Mrs. Brand was a passenger, was struck i by a government owned truck.

Mra. Clara L. Bogert, aged 53 years, of near Lincroft, died Tues- day evening at the home of her brother in Spotswood, where she was visiting for a few days. Fun- eral services in charge of C. H. T. Clayton & Son of Adelphia, will be held from her late home near Lin- croft on Friday at 1:30 p. m .. In- terment will be in Old Tennent Cemetery.
Survivors are her husband, Jos- eph Bogert, one son, Joseph, Jr., one ssister, Mrs.Kathryn Van Hise of Old Bridge and four brothers, John P., Willard B., Wallace C., and Clarence C. Aplegate all of Spotswood.

His body wag removed to the VanSant Colonial Home on South Street, here, and after being prepared for burial, wag removed to the home of his son at Barnegat. Boudinot House, Elizabeth
The Boudinot mansion, known as Boxwood Hall, built about 1750, is still standing at 1073 East Jersey Street, Elizabeth, Union County. It was the home of Elias Boudinot. As president of the Con- tinental Congress Mr. Boudinot signed the Treaty of Peace with Great Britain at the conclusion of the Revolutionary War. Frederick A. Beale, 85, a former member of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, died on Sunday at his home in West Long Branch. He was the first assessor of West Long Branch and served on the township committee. He was on the election board for 25 years. 5-2.5-39.

Harold Brinley, former Ocean County Freeholder, County detect- ive and County solicitor, died on Saturday after a two years' illness. He was 49 years old. 7/13/39
in Philadelphia. Mr. Dayton was also a United States Senator and Speaker of the House of Repre- sentatives. It was after him that the City of Dayton, Ohio, was named. Mrs. Fannie Beedle
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Beedle, aged 58 years, of James- burg, widow of Charles Beedle, were held Wednesday afternoon at the J. Laird Hulse funeral home in Englishtown. Interment was in Fernwood cemetery, Jamesburg.
Mrs. Beedle was a resident of Englishtown for many years. She died at her home in Jamesburg on | Sunday, following a seven months illness.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Myrtle Combs of Helmetta, Mrs. Ethel Bryan of Co- lumbus, Mrs. Irene Woonton, Rus- scll Beedle and William Beedle, all of Old Bridge. Also two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Errickson of Freehold, and Mrs. Ethel Schanck of James- burg.

Mrs. Joanna Borchardt, aged 61 years, died at the State Hospital at Marlboro, on Thursday night. Funeral services werc held on Sat- urday morning at the VanSant Colonial Honic on South Street, with Rev. Louis F. Cogan of Brade- velt, officiating. Interment was made in the State Hospital ceme- tery by Director VanSant.

Belcher Mansion, Elizabeth
Located at 1046 East Jersey Street, Elizabeth, is the home of Jonathan Belcher, who while royal governor of the Province, lived in this house from 1751 until his death in 1757. It is located on the original house lot of John Ogden, Jr., one of the first settlers. An iron plate originally a fireback, set in the east wall of the house in 1899, bears the date 1742. Governor Belcher was the patron of the College of New Jersey and the house has been called
the "Cradle of Princeton University". Later the residence was occupied by William Peartree Smith, Revolutionary patriot. Washington and Lafayette were guests. Later it was the home of Governor Aaron Ogden, who entertained Lafayette, here in 1824. In 1901 his great grandson, Count de Lafay- ette, was entertained by the present owner, Warren R. Funeral services were held this (Thursday) morning at 8:30 o'clock at her late home, and at 9:30 at St. Joseph's Catholic church at Perrineville. Dr. Vincent A. Battman, 26-year- old dentist, of 9 Carteret Avenue, Woodbridge, died of a broken neck, following a collision at Colts Neck, early Sunday afternoon. He was brought to the office of Dr. H. B. Mason here, but was pronounced dead. County Physician Harvey W. Hartman ordered the body remov- ed to the W. H. Funeral services for Mrs. Gezelle Berky were held Friday morning at the Freeman funeral home, with the Rev. Bruce Duvall, pastor of the Freehold Methodist church, in charge. Cremation took place at the Rosehill crematory at Linden.
Mrs. Berky was 50 years old and died last Wednesday at her home near Smithburg. She is survived by her husband, Ernest; one daugh- ter, Mrs. Gezelle Beck of the Bronx, and two sons, John of Staten Island and Ernest, Jr. of Jersey City.

Mrs. Mary Ann Baggett, died on Tuesday, at her home. at 29 Vought
avenue, after a long illness. She was 74 years old and was the widow of Patrick Baggett. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Mc- Mahon of Trenton; two sons, Ed- ward and James Baggett, and three grandsons, John, Warren and Eugene Kirby, who resided with her. Another daughter, Mirs. Mar- jorie Kirby, died last December 24th. Two sisters, Mrs. James Curley, of Red Bank and Miss Margaret Ryan cf Long Branch, and one brother, Michael Ryan of Shrewsbury, also survives.

FOR SERVICE TO HIS KING
350 acres of the ground on which this ancient structure stands-the Lineroft Inn at the Five Corners in the village of Lineroft-was grant- ed to one Jobn Bennett by the King of England away back in 1696. In 1637, Bennett, many of whose descendents are recorded in the latest eensus of Monmouth County, erected a home and public gathering place. Part of that building, in which the laige bar is now located, sti'l stands. The foundation, of stone gathered nearby, is in good condition, The west wing of the Inn as it now stands, was built in 1820 by Hendrick Bennett, a direet descendent ef the original grantea. The welt under the canopy shown in front of the inn was dug when the first building was started in 1697. The old iun, with extensive in- terior modernization, was reopened as a dining place three years ago.

170.Attended Dinner; Resig- nation Thrown Out
About 170 members of the Free- hold Fire Department and friends. attended the testimonial dinner held last Thursday evening at the American Hotel, in honor of Dan- iel S. Briggs of Bowne Avenue, who completed 50 years of active service in the department, on Tues- day of this week. He was present- ed with a wallet containing $50 by the department, and an additional gift from S. B. King & Son, for whom he has been employed for a number of years.
Mr. Briggs was born on South Street here, on August 27, 1868, the son of George Briggs, He was an iron moulder at the local foundry for 33 years. For the remaining years, he was a mechanic for C. H. Clayton, former automobile dealer, and his successors, S. B. King & Son, where he is still employed.
