Flagler ( now General Flagler, Chief of Ordnance, U. S. A.) and remained at Headquarters, Army of the Potomac, until December, 186 ;. Was then ordered to West Point Foundry with the Inspector of Army Ordnance, remained there until August 20, 1865, when he returned to his home in Lockport. where he has since resided.

Has been engaged in the photographic business thirty- one ycars, and traveled from the Atlantic to the Pacific and Gulf of Mexico. For the past nincteen years lias resided at Marathon, N. Y.


FRANK W. MORSE, PLAINFIELD, N. J.


Born at Lockport, N. Y., May 14, 1845. Enlisted May 22, 1861, Private Co. C. Captured at Winchester, Va., May 25, 1862. Paroled at Aiken's Landing, Va., Septem- ber 13, 1862. Discharged at Lockport, N. Y., June 2, 1863. Served in U. S. Navy from 186.4-66. Was Captain of the after-guard on sloop of war "Augusta," when she acted as convoy to Monitor, " Miantonomah," on her memorable trip to Europe, in 1865.


Was engaged in the oil business in Europe from 1887 to 1890. At present is Superintendent of " Garwood Land and Improvement Company, " at Garwood, N. J., 17 miles from New York City. Residence, Plainfield, N. J. P. O. address, Garwood, Union county, N. J.

JAMES TAYLOR, VASSAR, MICH.


Born in England, June 19, 1844- Mustered in, May 22, 1861, as private in Co. C. Wounded in action at Cedar Mountain, Va., August 9, 1862. Discharged at General Hospital, Alexandria, Va., for disability from wounds, November 10, 1802.


Mr. Taylor is a Veterinary Surgeon at Vassar, Mich. He fared better than some of the 28th on Banks' retreat, as he captured a horse and equipments. Upon reaching Williamsport, Md., he sold the saddle to the Major of the 5th Connecticut and turned the horse over to the Government.


JOHN YONKEY, BANGOR, WIS.


Born in Prussia, Germany, April 15, 1842, Enlisted at Lockport, N. Y., May 8, 1861, Mustered in, May 22, 1861, Private, Co. C. Wounded in left temple at Win- chester, Va., May 25, 1862, Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


Re-enlisted as trumpeter in Co. I, 2d N. Y. Mounted Rifles, September 17, 1863. Wounded in left knee at Buckingham County Court House. Va., July 15, 1865, while on duty as Provost Guard after the close of the war. Mustered out, at Buffalo, N. Y .; August 12, 1865.


Subsequent to the war conducted a barber shop in Buffalo, N. Y., until 1875, when he removed to Norwalk, Wis., where he engaged in the jewelry business until 1884. He went to Bangor, Wis., in that year, and has since resided there, continuing in the jewelry business.


GUSTAVUS A. BAKER, 1114 HANCOCK STREET, BROOKLYN, N. Y.


Born at Johnson's Creek. Niagara County, N. Y., February 28, 1836. Enlisted, May 11. 1861. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, as private in Co. D. Promoted Corporal, June 24. 1861. Sergeant, March 1, 1862. Captured at Cedar Mountain, Va., August 9. 1862. Paroled at Aikens Landing, September 13, 1862. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


Two years in the field, left him with little liking for the dry study of the law. He abandoned his pro- fession, and engaged in photograph album and book- binding business in New York City, from 1804 to 1809. In lumber, shingles, white oak car lumber and railroad ties, in Virginia from 1870 to 1884. Member of the firm of Baker & Williams, general merchandise, at Black- stone, Va .- one of the largest establishments of its kind in southern Virginia - since 18844, during which time he has resided in New York or Brooklyn.

Born in Hartland, Niagara County, N. Y., March 22, 1839. Enlisted, May 11, 1861, as private. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, as ist Sergeant in Co. D. Wounded and . captured at Cedar Mountain, Va., August 9, 1862. Paroled at Aikens Landing, September 13, 1862. Promoted 2d Lieutenant, February 19. 1863, to date August 9, 1862. Acting Adjutant from February 14, 1863, until June 2, 1863. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


After the War Mr. Seeley was in the lumber business in Michigan. Ile returned to Niagara County and lived on a farm for a nme. Ile was in the Custom House at Suspension Bridge three and a half years, and is now Superintendent of Section 1 .. knie Canal.


FRANK B. SEELEY, AS LIEUTENANT CO. D. 28TH N. Y.


Mr. Seeley was one of the best known of the "bay officers" in the regiment, and one of the most efficient. As Orderly Sergeant of Co. D he is remembered best, and no company in the regiment was more promptly in line, or better officered. His promotion to Lieutenant and Acting Adjutant was justly merited.


WILLIAM LEWIS, OKLAHOMA, OKLA. TER.


Born at Ridgeway, Orleans County, N. Y., May 10, 1836. Enlisted May 11, 1861. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, Sergeant Co. D. Promoted ist Sergeant, February 19, 1863. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


During the summer campaign of 1862 was color bearer of the 28th. Was wounded in action at Cedar Mountain, Va., August 9, 1862, and left on the battlefield three days. He was taken to the hospital at Alexandria, Va., and returned to the regiment in November. 1862. Was captured at the battle of Chancellorsville, Va., May 2, 1863. Was exchanged, and reached Lockport in time to be mustered out with the regiment.


Is a member of Grant Post No. 1, G. A. R., Oklahoma.

ADELBERT A. FOX, BUNDANCE, WY.


Born in Somerset, Niagara County, N. Y., September 27, 1841. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, as Corporal in Co. D. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


Lived near Kalamazoo, Mich., several years, in the · employ of R. R. Co. as carpenter. Was a charter member of Burson Post No. 303, G. A. R., Department of Michi- gan. In 1889 removed to Wyoming, where he and his two sons have five ranches, and are engaged in farming. Has had public offices offered him, but refused, only lately accepting an appointment from the Statistician at Washington, D. C., as Township Reporter to Department of Agriculture.


BARTLEY E. SALMON, LEAD CITY, S. D.


Born in England, June 10, 1842. Enlisted May 11, 1861. Mustered in as Private Co. D, May 22, 1861. Pro- moted Corporal March 4, 1862. Wounded in action at Cedar Mountain, Va., August 9, 1862. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


Was engaged in the salt business in Saginaw, Mich., in 1863, and in the oil business in Pennsylvania from 1864 to 1869. Removed to Nebraska in 1870. Resided in Omaha and Fremont, Nebraska, until 1876, when he re- moved to Dakota. Has since been successfully engaged in the hardware and mining business at Lead City, S. D.


DANIEL W. AINSWORTH, WARE, MASS,


Born in the town of Newstead, Erie County, N. Y., April 25, 1843. Mustered in, October 20, 1861, as private in Co. D. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


Remained at home one year on account of ill health. In July, 1864, went to Illinois. In 1869 removed to Adams, Mass., and studied dentistry there and at the New York Dental College. He commenced practice in Adams, Mass. In 1874 removed to Ware, Mass., where, for more than twenty years, he has had a very successful practice in his profession. He is a prominent citizen and Grand Army comrade,

Born in 1840. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, as private, in Co. D. Captured at Cedar Mountain, Va., August 9, 1862. Paroled at Aikens Landing, Va., September 13, 1862. Mustered ou', June 2, 1863.


After leaving the army, Mr. Bacon returned to Medina, N. Y., where he has since resided, a well-known and respected citizen.


SHELDON S. BAKER, BLACKSTONE, VA.


Born at Jolinson's Creek. Niagara County, N. Y., June 13, 1838. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, Private Co. D. Discharged July 17, 1861, at Camp Harris, Washington, D. C., for disability. being permanently disabled from rheumatic fever. Subsequently he tried to re-enlist in Captain Foster's company at Rochester, N. Y., but not being able to pass the examination, was refused.


Has resided in Virginia for twenty-five years, and found many true friends among them, "with never an unkind word from one of the battle-scarred, old Confed- erates."


ENOS BATHRICK, HARTLAND, N. Y.


Born in 1840. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, as private in Co. D. Discharged, July 17, 1861, for disability, at Camp Harris, D. C.


Mr. Bathrick is a farmer and resides at Hartland, N. Y.

Born at Auburn, N. Y., August 13, 1842. Enlisted at Medina, N. Y., May 11, 1861. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, private, Co. D. Served as Regimental Postmaster during his entire term. Captured at Chancellorsville, Va., May .2, 1863. Paroled at City Point, Va., May 14, 1863. Mus- tered out June 2, 1863. Mr. Boyce's health was always good in the ariny. lle never attended a sick call, never was absent on furlough, and took part in every march and engagement of the regiment until taken prisoner, a few days before the expiration of his term of service.


Ile resided in Lockport, N. Y., for two years after the War, then removed to Albion, Mich., where he engaged in the grocery and produce business for twelve years. In 1879 he removed lo Buffalo, N. Y., where he has since resided. He is engaged in the grocery business. Is a member of Bidwell- Wilkenson Post, G. A. R.


WILLIAM CANHAM, BELLWOOD, BUTLER COUNTY, NEB.


Born in 1838. Enlisted, May 11, 1861. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, as private in Co. D. Mustered out, June 2, 1863. Mr. Canham has lived in Nebraska for many years, where he is engaged in farming.


WILLIAM W. EASTMAN,


1113 NORTH 25TH STREET, OMAHA, NEB.


Born at Yates Center, Orleans Co., N. Y., May 17, 1839. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, Musician Co. D. De- tailed in Regimental Band April 10, 1862, until August 17, 1862, when all bands were mustered out. He returned to Co. D as fifer, until mustered out, June 2, 1863.


Mr. Eastman was always a conspicuous figure in the Drum and Fife Corps. The clear ringing notes of his silver fife awoke the camp at reveille, and sounded the other calls, as well as led the regiment on its marches.


Since returning from the war, with the exception of the time spent in study at Madison University at Hamil- ton, N. Y., he has held various positions in clerical work, and in the shoe business in the West. Is at present en- gaged in the pension business in Omaha, Neb. Is a charter member of Phil Kearney Post, No. 7, G. A. R., at Yankton, S. D.

LOREN HAYNER, NORTHVILLE, MICH.


Born in Yates, Orleans County, N. Y., July 11, 1843. Enlisted, October 20, 1861. Mustered in, November 11, 1861, as private in Co. D. Was wounded in action. at Chancellorsville, Va., May 2, 1863. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


. Subsequent to the War Mr. Hayner moved to Michi- gan, where he was engaged in farming for twenty years, and since then has been employed in a grist mill at his home in Northville, Mich.

OSCAR HUBBARD, ALBION, MICH.


Born at Lyndonville, N. Y., April 15, 1843. En- listed at Medina, N. Y .. November 15, 1861. Mustered in, November 28, 1861, Private in Co. D. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


Mr. Hubbard first enlisted in Adrian, Mich, in July, 1861, but was not mustered on account of his youthful appearance. Returning to Medina he procured the written consent of his mother and joined the 28th.


Went to Albion, Mich., in 1865, where for many years he was engaged in milling Is now in the employ of the Michigan Central Railro id Co. at that place. Is a mem- ber and Past Commander of E. W. Hollingsworth Post, G. A. R., Albion, Mich.


JOHN KEELER, PLATTE CENTER, NEB.


Born in Sutton, England, January, 20, 1834. Mus- tered in, November 28, 1861, as private in Co. D. Was wounded in action at Winchester. Va., May 25, 1862. Dis- charged from convalescent hospital, Virginia, October 15, 1862.


He returned to Orleans County, N. Y., where he re- sided until 1872, when he removed to Platte County, Neb. On account of poor health he had to discontinue his practice as veterinary surgeon. He resides on his home- stead near Platte Center. Neb. He has been an invalid since the War, from injuries received in the service. Is a member of Atlanta Post, No. 275, G. A. R.

HENRY S. GULICK, NEWARK, N. J.


Born at North Hector, N. Y., February 17, 1831. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, Sergeant Co. E. Promoted to Ist Sergeant, July 4, 1862 ; 2d Lieutenant, May 5, 1863. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


Was located at Canandaigua, N. Y., after his dis- charge, for about five years. After which he removed to Newark, N. J., where he has since resided.


Has not been well since 1870, when he was taken with a paralytic affection, the result of a fever contracted in the service. Has also had a partial paralysis which affects his speech and his hands He cannot write, but is able to walk. He sends his best wishes to his old com- rades.

Is now engaged in fruit culture on the East shore of Canandaigua Lake.

Was captured at Chancellors- ville, Va., May 2. 1863. Paroled May 14, 1863, at City Point, Va. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


After leaving the service lived for a number of years near Adrian, Mich., engaged in farming, and buying and selling stock. Was under-sheriff of Lenawee County, Mich., two years. Removed to Dennison, Texas, in 1879 Entered the railway mail service in 1881. November, 1888, the eleventh division railway mail service, consisting of Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas, with Indian and Okla- homa Territories, was established, and Mr. Teachout made chief clerk of the division ; assistant superintend- ent March 2, 1889, and superintendent April 1, 1893.

Re-enlisted November, 1863, in Co. L, soth N. Y. Engineers, as Private, promoted to Sergeant March, 1864. Mustered out, July, 1865.


Was employed on construction of Kansas Pacific R. R. from August, 1865, until November, 1868, in the Bridge Department on Vandalia Road, August, 1869, to July. 1870. Assistant Master of Bridges and Buildings on Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fé R. R. from 1870 to 1876. Has since been contracting and mining in Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. Has two Quartz Mills in Telluride and one in Cochito, New Mexico.

Born in County Kerry, Ireland, in 1831. Enlisted, December 4, 1861, at Canandaigua, N. Y. Mustered in, December 25, 1861, as Private in Co. E. Mustered out, .June 2, 1863. Mr. Dalton is a farmer, and has resided at Hopewell Center, Ontario County, N. Y., since the War.

Born in Hopewell, Ontario County, N. Y., May 12, 1841. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, private Co. E. Dis- charged July 24, 1861, on account of general debility, at Washington, D. C. Re-enlisted in Harris Lignt Cavalry, N. Y., Vols. 1863, first sergeant, Co. K. Mustered out, at Alexandria, Va., June 5, 1865.


Went to California in 1867, where he has since resided. Is an active Grand Ariny man. Is at present junior vice- commander of Fred. Steels Post, No. 70, G. A. R., Department of California.

VICTOR, N. Y.


Born in Victor. N. Y., September 23, 1836. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, Private Co. E. Promoted Corporal July 25, 1862. Mustered out, June 2, 1863. Re-enlisted as private, Co. K, 2d N. Y. Cavalry, September 8, 1864. Promoted Commanding Sergeant, October 25, 1864. Dis- charged at Alexandria, Va., June 5, 1865.


Mr. Moore spent four years after the war in Indiana and Michigan. Then he returned to Victor, where he has since resided. His occupation is carpenter and builder. About three years ago he was disabled by a paralytic stroke on the left side.

GEORGE RANDALL, HUDSON, WIS.


Born in Hicklin Green, Norfork, England, July 18, 1840. Mustered in, May 22, 1861, as Private Co. E. Mus- tered out, June 2, 1863. Re enlisted in Co. K, 2d N. Y. Cavalry, September 8, 1864. After a service of nine months was discharged by General Order No. 83 of the War Department, June 5, 1865, at Alexandria Va.


Was engaged in the hardware business at Junction City, Kan., two years, and spent some time in Texas and other Southern States. Hlas for many years resided at lludson, Wisconsin, where he has held the office of Justice of the Peace fourteen years, and Police Justice two years. Is also in the fire insurance business.


D. L. REYNOLDS, NEW RICHMOND, MICH.


Born in Middlesex, Yates County, N. Y., July 25, 1838. Enlisted, May 13, 1861, at Canandaigua, N. Y. Mustered in. May 22, 1861, as private in Co. E. Detailed in Pioneer Corps from April 8, 1862, to September, 1862. Mustered out, June 2, 1863.


Moved to Michigan in 1868. Is a member of Ab. Fenn Post, No. 371. G. A. R., Department of Michigan. Is a farmer and fruit grower. He has held nearly all the offices of his township, and was Postmaster of New Rich- mond from 1889 to 1895.
