ALBANY STREET DIRECTORY.
ALBANY STREET DIRECTORY.
Giving the name of each street, and showing what other streets and places run from it or across it with the number at which they intersect.
From this list the location of any number on a street can be easily ascertained ; as, for instance, wishing to know at what part of Broadway No. 642 comes, you look at Broadway, on this page, and find that Van Tromp street runs from 638, and Orange street from 646, showing that 642 Broadway would come half way between Van Tromp and Orange streets.
Or, going up Eagle street, suppose it is desired to take a cross street to reach 44 High ; on looking under High street you find 42 to be at the corner of Hudson avenue, so that by passing through Hudson avenue, you are near the desired number.
Where no numbers exist, ciphers (0) are given to indicate whether the street runs from the right or the left, or crosses.
It will be noticed that in this Street Directory the names of the streets are given in alphabetical order, giving the direction in which they run according to the numbers. Upon most of the streets the even numbers are upon the left hand side of the street, and the odd numt ers upon the right.
