MANUFACTURERS OF THE
IMPROVED PATENT
DOUBLE - ACTION HARP,
BY
Royal Letters PATENT,
LONDON.
-
ESTABLISHED, 1810.
(MANY YEARS WITH ERARD.)
J. F. BROWNE respectfully informs his Friends and the Musical World, that he has established himself for the manufacture and importation of these very beautiful instruments, at
281 BROADWAY, & 731 CHAMBERS - STREET, NEW-YORK.
His arrangements are such as to enable him to transact business at European prices, thereby saving purchasers the high duties imposed by Tariff on these Instruments.
J. F. Browne would observe, these Harps are constructed on the most approved principles, with all the modern improvements of London and Paris, are unequalled in brilliancy of tone, fineness of touch, and perfectness of mechanism. Particular care is taken to fit them for the extremes of climate in this country, in which respect they will be found far superior to any of European manufacture, imported in the usual way.
These Harps are patronized by the élite of musical taste and professional talent in Europe ; among the latter, he would mention N. C. Bochsa, who invariably selects from this esta- blishment.
J. F. Browne begs to offer the opinions of some of the first professional talent in this coun- try, and of the Musical Press and principal Southern periodicals :-
" Every lady should be a little familiar with this truly elegant drawing-room instrument. Mr. Browne's Harps are by far the most magnificent we ever saw. Through his perfect know- ledge of the instrument, he has effected many important improvements in the mechanical de- partment, and in the tone there is an extraordinary addition of sweetness, purity and power. The pillars are elaborately and gorgeously carved and gilded, while the frames are elegantly shaped and finished. We can cordially recommend Mr. Browne's instruments, as we are well acquainted with the character of the firm of which he is the resident representative."

RAL WATER with Syrups; also Philadelphia Porter and Ale, brewed by two of the most eminent Brewers in that City, and expressly for their use. The Mineral Water has for two years in succession stood the test of the Judges at the Fair of the American Institute, and received in 1843 a Diploma, in 1844 a Silver Medal, as testimonials of its superiority over all competition The Porter, Ale, and Champagne Cider will be found on comparison to be better than any now before the Public, and therefore confidently recommended.
The gratifying success which has erowned the efforts of the proprietors of this celebrated Establishment last year, is a sure guarantee of its superiority over similar ones, and en- courages them to make renewed exertions to merit a continuance of patronage. They have therefore just completed building a large Bottling Concern, and added thereto a new and improved apparatus for the preparation of Mineral Water together with steam pans for the making of Syrups, by which they will be enabled to bottle any quantity, and avoid disap- pointment both to City and Country customers. Patent Elastic Metallic Shanks for Boots & Shoes.
This new and important philosophical improvement in the manufacture of Boots and Shoes, is the result of much practical experience, and calculated to surpass all others now in use.
The peculiar merits of this improvement are, the graceful and beautiful arched form which the Boot is made to assume and maintain, under every stage of its wear ; always retaining the hollow arch in the sole, and preventing the pantaloon strap from getting soiled, while the comfort of the wearer is greatly enhanced by the Elastic Spring, which prevents the foot from crowding forward, and thereby avoiding the great cause of corns, as well as a preventive to going back at the heel. Manufactured only by the undersigned for New- York, Jersey City and Brooklyn.

" I have scen the artificial leg of Mr. Selpho, its construction appears excel- lent and well calculated to answer all the objects desired. But the best of all is the proof of those who wear them. It is compactly fitted together with its battery, wires, and other appliances, in neat mahogany cases, of several sizes and powers, at $10 (two sizes) $12, $14 and $16 each; and forwarded, to order, to any part of the Union, the Canadas, West Indies, or South America.
