Brevet Major Frank B. Hamilton, graduated at West Point June 14, 1862, as Second Lieutenant; breveted First Lieutenant in Third United States Artillery. September 17, 1862, for "gallantry and meritorious service at the battle of Antietam, Maryland ;" appointed First Lieuten- ant June 1, 1865; breveted Captain August 20, 1866, "for gallantry at the battle of Gettysburgh, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1863;" appointed Captain in the Fourteenth Regiment United States Infantry March 15, 1867; breveted Major and now serving as Captam in the Second Reg- iment United States Artillery, at Fort Ontario, Oswego, New York. This officer is the second son of James Hamilton, at present and for some years past postmaster at Monroeville.
