Ladies Home Missionary Society-Of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Cleveland. This society, under the management of a no- ble band of zealous and benevolent ladies, principally connected with the St. Clair St. Church, has been actively and efficiently en- gaged in the cause of humanity for a number of years,


The ladies have recently transferred the Ragged School (so called) formerly under their care to the Young Men's Christian As- sociation, and will hereafter be able to direct their efforts to other portions of the missionary field in the city. The objects of the Society as expressed in its constitution are "to amel- iorate the condition of the poor of this city and vicinity by feeding the hungry, clothing the destitute, and furnishing them with the instruction of the means of grace." WILLISTON & CO.'S DIRECTORY.


Trinity Church was organized, November 9th, 1816, and is therefore the oldest organ- ized Church of any denomination in the city of Cleveland. The first building in which the congregation worshiped, was erected on the corner of Seneca and St. Clair streets, and was entirely destroyed by fire in March, 1854. The present edifice on Superior street, was erected in 1854, and consecrated on Ascension day, May 17th, 1855.
