ARNOLD Brigadier General Benedict, in Eng- land; an intrepid warrior. who in many arduous and bloody conflicts, performed such gallant exploits and rendered such im- portant services to this his native country during her magnanimous struggle for free- dom and independence, as would have ren- dered his name illustrious in her annals and embalmed his memory to all posterity had not, alas, his subsequent conduct (produced by a rash and unjustifiable spirit for revenge for supposed injuries) cast an indelible stain on his once celebrated character,and damned it to everlasting fame.
