JAMES DEVLIN of SOUTH CAROLINA SERVICE S 39435 Applied in Abbeville District South Carolina, states he served in the War of the Revolution three years as Private in Captain Felix Warley's Company, third batalion of S. C. commanded by Col. Vm. Tho- mpson, which during his service was transfered to or put upon the Continental Establishment, That he enlisted in July 1775 and was discharged . at Charleston, 8-14-1778. That his discharge was burned in the conflagation of his house 1786. he made this application 1818. Affidavit 7-23-1818 by James Russell who states he served with James Devlin in the War of the Revolution, and Imows they belonged to Captain Worley's Company, third Battalion of S.C. placed upon thethe Continental Establishment, and discharged after three years service at Charleston. In 1820 James Devlin age 70 resident of. said Abbeville District, S.C. states he received Pension Certificate Ilo 7289, states. that at the present he has no house nor family but lives with his son (also named James) One James Wardlaw Esquire was Clerk of Abbeville 11-25-1820. .

CHESTNUT- McDILL- Parentage desired of Margaret Chestnut ( Chesnut) born Dec. 1778 in S. C. married May 8, 1798 or 99 in S. C. to Jas. McDill ( Madill ). They were members of the Ebenezer A. H. Church Fairfield Dist. S, C. There church certificate was dated Mar. 20, 1807. There bible (which I have) states that they left Fairfield Dist. S. C. April 1807 for Chio. She died in Warren Co. Ill. now Lenderson Co. on Feb. 29, 1848. Buried in Ill. Margaret Chestnut and James mcDill were cousins. She was either the dau. of Alexr. or Saml. Chestnut sons of David Chestnut, Think she was the dau. of said Alexander Chestnut and Sarah Leek.
