HARTSFIELD FL.ILY DATA

Compiled BY: JACK LADSON, JR. s.O. BOX526 LOUITRIC , GEORGIA

The progenitor of the FAKE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA HARTSFIELD EL ITY in America was ANDREW FARTSFIELD. He was a Welshman, and born in Nales in the year 1700, Es was a Captain in the British Army berors coming to .merica, but after his arrival he became a loyal _atriot for the American cause. The maiden name of his wife is unknown, and he was twenty six years of age when he landed here in 1726.

Andrew Hartsfield owned one hundred and sixty acres of land in Now York City which today is known as some of the most valuable land in the entire world. Eis track embraced what is now the territory from seventy fifth street, up to, and including one hundred and twenty fourth street. Eis grandson, J.A.IS HARTSFIELD, leased this land to the city of New York for a period of ninety nine years, but never did live to witness or sec the great controversy which this land caused one hundred years later. An amazing story surrounds these truths, and a book could be written on the subject. Sad to say the family wis never able to regain the property after years of hard work and troubl: but quite a "stink" was raided by the late Judge Joseph T. Cowan of Dallas, Texas. Judge Cowan was a descendant of Andrew hartsfield on both sides of his family for one of his daughters of old Anirow furt- sfield wad a Cowan, and from this Cowan line ir. Cowan descends.

Andrew Hartsfield left New York in 1733 and moved to Philadelphia where he remained until 1752 when he took land in wako County, North Carolina. rio was a man of culture and education, and became an iafl- uonce in wako County, North Carolina. where he was promicatly icent- ified with the leading families of the county. No died in 1759 And lies buried in wake County, N.C. Es left the following children: (1) andrew Jr. (2) Richard, (3) Godfrey, (4) John, (5) Jacob, (6) hary , (7) zabocca, (8) Elizabeth, (9) Sarah.

Lrs. Virginia Carlton Duscan of Loultric, Georgia is a descendant of Andrew Hartsfield, and is dosirous of establishing the entire ?incare from Androw Hartsfield sr. on dowm, and she wishes to secure the Various namos of the wives of andrew Hartsfield's sons, as well as well as the names of the husbands of the daughters of andrew Farts- field. Somo work is now being done in New York, .hiladolphia, and some in North Carolina, Ars. Dugcan has a great mass of data . hich consists of old bible records, lottors, ote. relating to the farts- fields, and some of the data back fifty or sixty yhars. Those littors will bo typed in this paper lator on, and an attempt will bs .ads to contact some of the descendants of Andrew Hartsfield now living in all parts of the United states, and the aim will be to fully establish sh linoage and bring to light anything of interest regarding the descend ants.

irs. Duggans mother was before her marriage, 3lla Bell Morrison dau- Shtor of the late Captain John Morrison and his wife, Iola >:11 Morrison. Tho latter was the daughter of S musl Boll who was born in Fitt Count., N.C. ..... his wife bully Adelino hartsfield. vally was the

daughter of Louis Hartsfield and his wife whose name was LOVIY BAR- field before her marriage, From the information in the various roc- ords referred to above, LOUIS HARTSFIELD was the son of JOHN ARTS- FIELD, and a grandson of ANDRE. HARTSFIELD, who was the progenitor of this family in america. The maiden name of the wife of JOHN PAR SFI ILD is not known, but a check of the records in philadelphia might revoal hor name.
