In submitting the foregoing report we regret the increased cost of maintaining our schools. Owing to the fact that school buildings will wear out it has been necessary to lay some new floors and newly seat and desk some of the school rooms. Also, because of there being more scholars for the Intermediate room in the village, we were obliged to rent a room in the. hotel which we were obliged to furnish, and placed the 9th grade there necessitating the hiring of another teacher. Some of the parents whose children were sent to the hotel room objected to their children going to that room until after the State Board of Health pronounced it sanitary and suitable for present use, but the State Board condemned the Intermediate room and gave us notice that a more suitable room must be furnished soon.

All of our school rooms are full and more ample accommo- dations are very much needed. One other thing should be attended to at once if we are to continue the transportation of scholars. There should be more suitable wagons or car- riages provided. All of the children who are carried by the town have long rides and in bad weather the exposure is bad for them. Many of the parents of young children dislike very much to have their children so exposed. We would like to have the town give us some instructions in the matter.

School Directors.

Report of Special Committee On New Central School Building.

To the Voters of the Town of Pittsford :

The committee appointed at the last annual Town meeting to investigate the matter of a new central school building for the Town of Pittsford respectfully reports as follows :

LOCATION.

We have considered with especial care the following loca- tions :

1st. The property owned by Mrs. A. D. Heath, constitutes a location in everyway desirable, if the voters are willing to place the building there. With the present buildings re- moved the frontage is ample and a rise of ground toward the rear of the lot is an ideal spot for a school building. The lot, however, is not large enough for a play ground but land owned by Henry H. Peabody, at the rear of Mrs. Heaths' lot, could be added in any amount desired by the Town and is entirely satisfactory for the purpose.
