Art. 18. To see if the town will vote to exempt from taxa- tion a proprosed new industry promoted by Messrs. Hudson, McLeod and Lang, for a term of five years.

Art. 19.

WHEREAS pursuant to a vote passed in special town meeting of the legal voters of the town of Mor- gan in the County of Orleans and State of Vermont, Said meeting having been warned for that purpose and held November 25th., 1919 the selectmen of the Town of Brighton in the County of Essex and State of Vermont, were notified to meet with the select- men of said town of Morgan at the office of Harry B. Amey in the village of Island Pond in said town of Brighton, Wednesday the 7th day of January A. D., 1920, at ten o'clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of agreeing, if possible, on the location of the bound- ary line dividing said Towns of Morgan and Brighton

the location of said boundary line, according to the contention of said Selectmen of Morgan, now being uncertain and in dispute,

AND WHEREAS the matter is now in abeyance and no agree- ment has been reached by and between the select- men of said towns of Morgan and Brighton.

NOW THEREFORE

(1) To determine in what manner the town will carry into effect a compromise for the location of said boundary line aforesaid.

(2) To determine whether the town of Brighton will vote to authorize its selectmen to locate such line by agree- ment, and as agents of said town to sign and execute all agreements, papers, deeds and conveyances necessary therefor, emply counsel, competent surveyors and assist- ants to examine records and other evidence and to locate and survey such line and to mark the same agreeably to the laws of the State of Vermont.

(3) To determine whether the town will vote to authorize its selectmen, if such line is not agreed upon as is provided for by aw, to bring in the name of the town of Brighton a petition to the supreme court, making the town of Mor- gan defendant, for the appointment of commissioners to locate the line.

WHEREAS for a great many years last past the Pherrin's River Bridge at or near Butters Mill so-called has, by some agreement or understanding by and between the town of Brighton of Brighton in the County of Essex and State of Vermont and the town of Mor- gan in the County of Orleans and State of Vermont, been maintained partially by the town of Brighton and partially by the town of Morgan, it having been . made to appear that a small portion of said bridge was in the said town of Brighton.

AND WHEREAS on the 16th. day of June, A. D., 1919 notice was sent to F. E. Boyce, John Thurston and D. C. Foss as Selectmen of the town of Brighton by A. H. Grout of Newport, Vermont, for the selectmen of Morgan giving them, as selectmen of the town of

Brighton, notice that the town of Morgan would here- after have nothing to do with the maintenance or construction of the bridge above named, said letter also, among other things, stating that it further ap- pears, after careful investigation, that the true line between the towns of Brighton and Morgan is so lo- cated, upon recent careful surveyl, made upon the old recorded surveys of the town, that the bridge in ques tion is wholly within the town of Brighton and hence should be wholly maintained by said town.

NOW THEREFORE

(1) To determine what action, if any, the town of Brighton will take relative to the determination of the true loca- tion of said bridge.

(2) To determine whether the town of Brighton will vote to authorize its selectmen to ascertain as nearly as Is pos- sible as to do the true location of said bridge with respect to town or county lines or to make such agreement as to location and maintenance of said bridge or any portion thereof with the selectmen or authorized agents of said town of Morgan or the officers of the Highway depart- ment of theState of Vermont or the respective counties of Orleans or Essex, as said selectmen of said Brighton may deem just and proper, and as agents of said town to sign and execute all agreements, papers and deeds and conveyances necessary therefor, employ counsel, compet- ent surveyors and assistants to examine records and other evidence relative thereto and to do all matters and things necessary in the premises.

(3) To determine what action, if any, the town of Brighton will take relative to the maintenance of said bridge or any part thereof.

Art. 20. To transact any other business that may legally be transacted at said meeting.

F. E. BOYCE, D. C. FOSS, JR., JOHN W. THURSTON,

Selectmen.
