REPORT OF DISTRICT HEALTH OFFICER
To the Voters of the Town of Brighton, Vt .:
In rendering this, my second annual report, I wish to call your attention to the following:
1. CONTAGIOUS DISEASES
There was no severe epidemic in the town dur- ing the year 1920. The number of contagious dis- eases quarantined can be seen from the table below: Measles, 34; Mumps, 12; Whooping Cough, 57; Chicken-pox, 6; Diphtheria, 5; Scarlet Fever, 27;
J. Kingston,
Influenza, 7; Typhoid Fever, 3.
2. VITAL STATISTICS
During the year the number of marriages, births and deaths was: Marriages, 27; Births, 59, deaths, 43.
3. INSPECTION OF SCHOOL BUILDINGS
Duringt the past year your schools were inspect ed and in some cases changes or improvements were ordered. No changes were ordered unless deemed absolutely necesary. It is the policy under the new system to have a gradual improvement of all schools rather than a sudden radical change.
4. REPORT OF MEDICAL INSPECTION OF SCHOOL CHILDREN
During the past year all the children in the schools of the town were carefully examined for physical defects with the following results: Total number of children examined, 226. Number of children with defects, 123. Total number of defects, 157.
Defects divided as follows:
Teeth, 76; Throat, 67; Vision, 11; Hearing, §; Heart, 0.

There were twenty-three calls. Twenty of these for chimney and three fires. There was a good at- tendance of members at each call, but would have been better had we a good alarm, something that . could be heard and distinguished from the drone of locomotives standing in the yard.

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING WARNING
The inhabitants of the Town of Brighton, who are legal voters in Town Meeting, are hereby warn- ed to meet at the Opera Hall, in said Brighton, on Tuesday, March 1st., A. D. 1921, at 10 oclock in the forenoon, for the purpose of acting upon the follow- ing business, viz :
Art. 1. To elect a moderator for the ensuing year.
Art. 2. To elect a Town Clerk for the ensuing year.
Art. 3. To hear and dispose of the Reports of the various Town Officers.
Art. 4. To elect all other officers as provided by law including one Water Commissioner, for the term of three years.
Art. 5. To determine in what manner the taxes shall be collected.
Art. 6. To see if the Town will appropriate ten per cent of its highway fund for the building and maintenance of sidewalks.
Art. 7. To see if the Town will vote to empower and authorize its Selectmen to appoint a Road Commissioner or Commissioners, whether one or two of such Commissioners to be determin- ed by said vote.
Art. 8. To see what sum of money, over and above that required by law will be appropriated by the Town for the maintenance and enlarge- ment of the Public Library.
Art. 9. To see if the Town will appropriate money, and if so, how much, for the proper observ -- ance of Memorial Day.
Art. 10. To see what sum of money the Town will appropriate for the compensation of the Fire Company, the Fire Chief and horse to draw the fire apparatus.
Art. 11. To see if th eTown will vote to raise a sum of money in addition to the amount now re-
quired by law, to take advantage of the State Aid Law, and if so, how much.
Art. 12. To see if the Town will vote to day its Town Clerk a salarv. in accordance with Sec- tion 1, of Act. No. 219, passed by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont, 1919, and if so, how much.
Art. 13. To see if the Town will have free medical inspection of school children.
Art. 14. To see what action the Town will take re- lative to an extension of its street lights, from a point near the residence of the late Hiram B. Farmer on Railroad Street, in said Town. to the premises owned and occupied by Ed- ward Guay.
Art. 15. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Water Commissioners to allow the fami- lies of G. W. Currier, A. E. Hawkins, Charles N. Williams. John Lavoy, Fred Chase and Mrs. Fannie T. C"tie to connect the main line of the Town Water System at or near the res- idence of Charles Bresse. Said property holders to assume all expense of construction and maintenance. The Town to furnish them with water for the term of fifteen years free of charge.
Art. 16. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise to dofrav the current expenses of the Town, for the support of the poor. for the support of the School. the making and re- pairing of highways and bridges and the care of snow roads for the ensuing year, and to liquidate its present liabilities.
Art. 17. To transact any other business that may legally be transacted at said meeting.
