1918-The Selectmen paid $2288 35 for factory order No. 2534 in full and water system order No. 2561, $974 35.

According to law, we were called upon, last year, to pay 20 per cent of Grand List for State War Tax,instead of 5 per cent as per vote of town. This tax will be as mich the coming year, if not more, as we understand a bill has been talked of in our legislature to make this War Tax 30 per cent of grand list. We have examined the accounts with the town Auditors and recommend that the various departments be allowed the same to expend as last year-with 15 cents for town indebtedness to replace factory order and increase 15 per cent for War Tax as per law, making 2.30 per dollar of Grand List, as follows:

Annual Town Meeting Warning


The inhabitants of the Town of Brighton, who are legal voters in town meeting, are hereby notified and warned to meet at the Opera Hall, in said Brighton, on Tuesday, March 4th, A. D., 1919, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, for the pur- pose of acting upon the following business, viz:


1 To elect a moderator for the ensuing year.


2 To elect a town clerk for the ensuing year.


3 To cast their ballots on the question, "shall license be granted for the sale of intoxi- cating liquors in this town?"


4 Shall license of the fifth class, known as druggist license, be granted in this town?


5 To hear and dispose of the reports of the various town officers.


6 To elect all other officers as provided by law including one water commissioner for the term of three years.


7 To determine in what manner the taxes shall be collected.


8 To see if the town will appropriate ten per- cent of its highway fund for the building and maintenance of sidewalks.


9 To see if the town will vote to empower and authorize its selectmen to appoint a road commissioner or commissioners, whether one or two of such commissioners to be determined by said vote.


10 To see what sum of money, over and above that required by law will be appropiatod by the town for the maintenance and en

largement of the public library.


11 To see if the town will appropriate money, and if so, how much, for the proper observ- ance of Memorial Day.


12 To see what sum of money the town will appropriate for the compensation of the fire company, the chief, and horse to draw the fire apparatus.


13 To see if the town will vote to raise a sum of money in addition to the amount now required by law, to take advantage of the State Aid Law, and if so, how much.


14 To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise to defray the current ex- penses of the town, for the support of the schools, for the support ofthe poor, the mak- ing and repairing of highways and bridges and the care of snow roads for the ensuing year,and to liquidate its present liabilities.


15 To transact any other business that may legally be transacted at said meeting.


16 To see if the town will vote to empower the Selectmen to dispose of Pleasant Street School Property.

To see if the town will vote to extend the the town water system from the home of Charles Breese to the residence of C. N. Williams with pipe sufficient size and hydrants enough to furnish ample fire pro- tection to this district. The extension to be completed on or before Nov. Ist., 1919.
