P. 682, 1. 26, Dea. AMASA,47 has been badly treated, and I am surprised to find how many people are interested in him, and anxious for the preservation of his fair fame. I've received letters from Wisconsin to Connecticut relative to Dea. Amasa, and will now endeavor to straighten out some of the kinks.
1st. All the children from Amasa, b. 1785, to Betsyvilla, b. 1805, inclusive, belong not to the Deacon, but to his son Amása (1. 25), b. in 1763. Having taken so much of the load off the Deacon's back, we proceed to remark
2d. That a principal cause of the confusion is probably in the fact that the wife of the second Amasa was also a Priscilla Birge. This fact may clear away the seeming defamation which rests upon Dea. Amasa47 of having a child b. while he was a widower. Amasa, b. 1785, grad. Y. C., 1807. For Betsyvilla, read Betsyrilla.

a public profession of religion till the autumn of 1857, when he, with nearly his whole family, united with the Baptist church. This had long been the church of his choice, yet he was no sectarian, but loved all christians wher- ever he met them. The unanimous testimony of neighbors and acquaint- ances is, " No one can say aught against him." And in view of his long and useful life, and peaceful death, all feel to say, "Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace."-N. Y. Evangelist.

MILLS, p. 704, 1. 14, Hist. of Windsor (in common with the Mills family ketch in the Memoirs of Rev. Wm. Robinson, and that in the Genealogical Sketches of West Simsbury by Abiel Brown) is in error in relation to Peter Mills, the emigrant, called in an early record " Peter Miles the taylor." He could not conveniently have been born in 1666, as there stated, for he had a ot in Haddam before Nov. 30, 1669. It is not known that he ever lived in Haddam, but March 13, 1670, the town of Haddam voted to Thomas Shailler the lote that was Peter Milesis the douchemanes." (Had. Rec. 1st Book.) ). W. Patterson of West Winsted, Ct., who contributes the foregoing item, Iso suggests that Dorcas was the first wife of his son Peter, Jr., and Ebene- er and Return, were sons of said Peter, Jr. Wby. Ch. MOORE, p. 705, Concerning the ancestor, Mr. W. B. Trask of Dorchester, De Mass., makes the following queries, somewhat unanswerable, but worthy of consideration : " You infer that Dea Moore went to Windsor, with Mr. War- ins ham in the first immigration. Do you find his name on the records of Wind- sor, previous to Jan. 2, 1637 ? You state that Dea. John was deputy in 1643,

SUPPLEMENT.
and in Matthew Grant's old church record is a list of those church members who " were so in Dorchester and came up here with Mr. [Warham] and still are of us." You have the name of " [Dea. M]oore," and " Dea. Moore's wife," in that list. Now can the John Moore of Dorchester, in '37, be the Dea. John of Windsor ? May it not have been that he either returned to Dorchester (if it was the same individual), and tarried a while, and, in 1643, or before settled permanently in Windsor? Or, that he went to Windsor a few years after the immigration of the church and pastor, and that Mr. Grant in his summary, years after that, put him down among the early comers, as he might have been, if he had gone thither subsequent to the first immigra- tion. Or, this John Moore of Dorchester, 1637, may have been another in- dividual, if so, I should like to know what became of him. I have not had . time to make an investigation as to whether he is mentioned on the records subsequent to '37."
