United States Congress.


A new Congress begins on the 4th of March, each alternate year-the odd-number year. By Act of Con- gress, the election of Congressmen throughout the coun- try (except Oregon, which is first Monday in June, even years), takes place on Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November, every even year. The regular sessions of Congress begin annually on the 1st Monday of December. The pay of a member of Congress, whether Senator or Representative is $5,000 per year with mileage at the rate of 20 cents per mile.
