From 1884 to 1903 engineering courses were given in the Corcoran Scientific School. In 1903 that School was combined with Columbian Col- lege into the department of Arts and Sciences.


In 1905 the engineering courses were placed under an administrative organization known as the Washington College of Engineering. In 1909 the name was changed to College of Engi- neering and Mechanic Arts, and in 1914 the name became College of Engineering.


In 1905 the architectural courses were given under the administrative direction of the Divi- sion of Architecture and so continued until 1910 when work in architecture was discontinued. It was resumed in 1913 under the College of Engi- neering. Graduates of the Division of Architec- ture are listed under the College of Engineering.
