The National Veterinary College was organized in 1892, and in 1896 became the Veterinary School of Columbian University. It was discontinued in 1898.


In 1908 the organization of a College of Veterinary Medicine under the charter of the George Wash- ington University was authorized, and the College opened in the fall of that year. It is under separate financial management, but under the educational direction of the University.
