H. Estimated cost of operation of Sanitarium for ensuing year
During the year ending May 15, 1949, sixteen patients were admitted to Masonic Sanitarium. During that period eight patients died. An average daily population of twenty- nine was maintained throughout the year.
The co-operation and services of physicians and dentists of Davenport who are members of the Masonic Fraternity are gratefully acknowledged.
Frequently it is difficult to maintain our traditional standard of quality and service to our patients because of

Anyone who knows of capable employees in these classifications who are available for employment at Masonic Sanitarium would be doing a fine service to Iowa Masonry by writing this information to the Superin- tendent of Masonic Sanitarium, Bettendorf.

As we compile the list of those who passed away during the year, we are reminded of the certainty of death. But we are also reminded of the desire to live which is inher- ent in the lives of all people, even in those whose bodies are maimed or suffering with pain.
When our brethren or their widows who have been pa- tients at Masonic Sanitarium pass away, there remains for us who survive the satisfaction that Masonry cared for them faithfully and well during their last days on earth.
Fraternally submitted,

REPORT ON CHARTERED LODGES
Edwin L. Lunde (103), P.J.G.W., Chairman, presented the report of the Committee on Lodges Chartered and Under Dispensation, which on his motion was-
ADOPTED.
To the Grand Lodge of Iowa:
Your Committee on Lodges Chartered and Under Dispensation sub- mits the following report:
The entire committee did not have the opportunity to meet with the Grand Master, Board of Custodians, and Iowa Committee on Masonic Education in Cedar Rapids as has been the custom. However, the Chairman and Secretary did meet briefly with the Grand Master at Des Moines in December, at which time problems of some lodges were discussed.
A fund of $400.00 was authorized for the use of the committee by the Grand Lodge at the last communication. Your committee recom- mends that a contingent fund of like amount be appropriated for the ensuing year.
