Union, about eight miles south of Richmond. In 1834 he removed to Dublin and engaged in the practice of medicine; after about four years suc- cessful prosecution of his profession, he, with a partner, established the present Dublin Foundry in 1838, of which business he was the managing partner until 1855 when the firm sold out to the pany with two partners established a Female


Society in the county, and it is doubtless owing to his influence as much as to that of any other one man, the fact that for twenty five years there has not been any legal traffic in intoxicating liquors in Dublin. About the year 1837 he was authorized by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ to preach the gospel; for several years he only sustained the relation of a local preach- self up wholly to the work .- See military history WITT, SARAH-widow William B .- res Dublin.
