Bunker, Francis S. enlisted in Co B, 57th Reg Ind Vol Inf, Oct. 12, 1861, for threefchanged, and was again captured during the years, was in battles of Lookout Mountain. Mission Ridge, and Stone Biver, was in view of the battle of Perryville, but not engaged Discharged Dec. 31, 1863. Re-enlisted in Was twice taken prisoner, paroled and ex- Red River campaign, and confined six months in Tyler prison, Texas, but escaped by tun- nelling underneath the wall. Was in the battles of Arkansas Post, seige of Vicksburg, same Co and Reg as a veteran, Feb. 12, 1864, and assault on Fort Blakely, Ala. Served for three years; still in service. April, 1865. till Aug, 1865, when the war having come to Family res on farm of A. Hunt, ws Newport close he was discharged. Resides with and Arba road, 1 mile n e Newport, New John M.
