ANTWERP, OHIO.
The village of Antwerp is situated in Carryall township, Paulding Co, Ohio, between the Maumee river and Wabash & Erie canal, being distant from Toledo 71 miles and from Fort Wayne 22 miles via the W, St L & P Ry, and 42 miles from Indiana State line. First settled in 1841 it has gradually in- creased in population until from 200 in 1855, the census now completed exhibits some 1500 persons. The valuable hardwood timber belt in which this place is located, is being utilized. by the various factories and furnaces, and with the fine farming territory adjacent, the product of which seeks a market here, gives the village considerable prominence as a shipping point. Postmaster, Mrs. Emeline Murphy.

.
This enterprising young city, the County seat of Wells County, is located on the south side of the Wabash river, 24 miles south of Fort Wayne, via the F. W. M. & C. Ry, and is the centre of heavy business interests. Large elevators, flour mills, bending works, stave mills, etc., attract capital, and with the handsome brick blocks, new $25,000 jail, six fine church edifices, large Union school, and city and county buildings, make up an unusual appearance of business thrift. The Odd Fel- lows, Free Masons and Knights of Honor have flourishing lodges here; and three newspapers, one Democratic, one Green- back and one Republican, dispense news to the inhabitants. Population, over 2,500; postmaster, George Arnold.
