ARTICLE 2. (By Direction of Selectmen). To take any action the Town may desire upon the reports of the several Town Boards and Com- mittees and to appoint or change any Committee that the Town may think proper.


ARTICLE 3. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, on and after January 1. 1950, to borrow in anticipation of the revenue of the year 1950.


ARTICLE 4. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote from surplus for the use of the Assessors in determining the tax rate for the year 1949, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 5. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to sell or otherwise dispose of any real or personal property of which the Town may be possessed or seized and for which it has no further use, including all real estate of which the Town has possession or title for non-payment of taxes; and to see if the Town will vote to authorize any other department to sell or otherwise dispose of any personal property in its possession and to determine the manner, or

condition of such sales, provided that in each case involving real estate a majority of the Planning Board and a majority of the Park Commis- sioners vote to concur in the opinion that the property will not be needed for park, playground or other public use, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 6. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Board of Selectmen to accept conveyances or mort- gages of any real or personal property belonging to persons receiving relief from the Town and to dispose of said property in the manner they may judge for the Town's best interest and to authorize them to discharge any encumbrances on said property if they consider it for the best interest of the Town so to do, and to see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the discharging of such encumbrances.


STREETS AND SIDEWALKS


ARTICLE 7. (On Petition and By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will accept the several reports of the Selectmen laying out as Town ways the following designated private ways and parts of ways or any of them, to wit :-


(a) Oakden Avenue from Pond Street to a distance of about 740 feet


(b) Byron Road


(c) Francis Road


(d) Pequot Road


(e) Harland Road from Summer Street to Judson Road


(f) Adams Place from a point adjacent to 46 Adams Place to a point adjacent to 64 Adams Place


(g) Mount Vernon West, an extension 300 feet in length


(h) Holmberg Road from Middle Street northerly about 100 feet


(i) Puritan Road


(j) Mount Vernon East, extension of about 110 feet from Mount Ida Road to land of Elsie C. Emery


(k) Nelson Street


(1) Hale Street


(m) Oxford Road


(n) Filmore Street


(0) Belmont Street


or any portion of said ways and will authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire by gift or purchase or take by right of eminent domain in fee or otherwise for all purposes of a public street and highway in and over each of said streets as so laid out and accepted, and to see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the working of each of the above named streets including the acquisition of the fee above referred to and for the building of any bridges, drains and conduits or securing easements which may be necessary in connection therewith and to see whether the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to accept deeds of any reservation strips existing in connection with any of said streets, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 8. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to reconstruct, resurface, widen, straighten, relocate or work the following streets, provided the state or

County or both will appropriate a sum of money to help defray the ex- penses of such work, to wit:


West Street


Washington Street from Washington Square to a point to meet the State Highway beyond Lincoln Square


or any portion of said ways and will authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire by gift or purchase or take by right of eminent domain in fee or otherwise for all purposes of a public street and highway in and over each of said streets, and to see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the working of each of the above named streets, including the acquisition of the fee above referred to and for the building of any bridges, drains and conduits or securing easements which may be necessary in connection therewith, and to see whether the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to accept deeds of any reservation strips existing in connection with any of said streets, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 9. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for resurfacing, repairing or reconstruction by the Street Department or under the provisions of General Laws (Ter. Ed.) Chapter 90, for maintaining, repairing and improving the following streets or any portion thereof:


Broad Street from Madison Street to Middle Street


or if deemed advisable by the Massachusetts Department of Public Works, any other street in the Town, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 10. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to reconstruct, resur- face, widen, straighten, relocate or work that portion of Commercial Street between Church Street and No. 695 Commercial Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 11. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to straighten, relocate reconstruct and widen Pleasant Street from 1393 Pleasant Street to the junction of Water and Pleasant Streets, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.


ARTICLE 12. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the reconstruction of Clapp Avenue, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 13. (On Petition of Frank L. Bicknell and Others). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money for the purpose of relocating, constructing, draining, surfacing and widening or otherwise improving a way from approximately 193 Broad Street to King Avenue, known as "an extension of King Avenue to Broad Street" as laid out and accepted by the Town Meeting of the year 1890, or thereafter, and to accept any deeds or easements necessary thereto, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 14. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to accept by gift from George Puopolo land adjacent to his building at the corner of Broad and Middle Streets for street purposes as follows: On Middle Street, a strip approximately 10 feet wide and 93 feet long, and on Broad Street, a strip approximately 10 feet wide and 125 feet long, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 15. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $30,000. for the construction of

sea walls in the vicinity of Ocean Avenue and to riprap the wall on Fore River Avenue, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 16. (On Petition of Roy H. Richards, and Others). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the construction of a permanent sidewalk and curbing along the north side of Chard Street and continuing north on Middle Street to the concrete side- walk in front of No. 66 Middle Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 17. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction of curbing and sidewalks, or take any other action in relation thereto.


DRAINAGE


ARTICLE 18. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for drainage on Sum- mer Street, from No. 437 to Belmont Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 19. (At Request of Street Department). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction of drainage on Front Street from No. 175 to No. 267, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 20. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to drain the land on the easterly side of Essex Street, from Middle Street to Fore River, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 21. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for drainage on Pleasant Street, from Park Avenue to Burkhall Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.
