The first Benevolence Committee meeting was held the third Wednesday in September 1953, at which time the Committee elected officers, Chairman Henry Theation Vice Chairman Ethel Eddy. It was discovered that there was no information to carry out their program, so there were letters sent out to obtain this material, especially on some type of specific program. There were received and all taken into consideration. at our next meeting, our Committee decided to instigate a Benevolence Education program for the members of the Church. The Committee Phad Rev. Fisher from Spencer, a member of the Districh Missionary Committee, to geplain and enlighten us on the Benevolence program.
The Benevolence Committee sponsored a film" More for Peace in its education program to all may get are idea of what it was all about. This was well attended and very helpful. at this How. 18 meeting, a silver collection was taken $ 8.45. This became the nucleus of our Missionary Promotion fund which money was to be used in our education program to rent films, pay speakers, etc. allowes set our Committee meeting to be regularly on the third Wednesday of each month. desired orany other newsy cause, as these two areas where places of our concentrated efforts. Of this collection, $ 11. 25 Benevolence went to Puerto Rico # 51.06 went to Korea, and 4.81 event to Committee General Benevolences.
Some of the projects selected were Ryder Memorial Hospital, yuguin Rural Community and others in Pucito Rico (this comes under Home Missions) and the Christian. Orphanage at Jongnas, Korea and others in Korea ( these come sender Foreign Missions). It was recommended to the Church that the next quarters Benevolence offerings be sent to these areas.

Dr albert Cre, President of the Executive Staff of the Massachusetts Conference and hiswife (who have covered the entire world field of missionary activites) were invited to the March meeting to speak on missionary. subjects, which was wonderful. The committee requests, however, that this meeting was not very well attended for it had made vast preparations and a great deal was missed by those absent from this open meeting to further understand our missionary work.
The Benevolence Committee submitted a budget of

$1,000,00 to the Trustees of the Church, at the time required, but was granted only $ 850 as. However, they are pleased to announce that at the Church Benevolence Canvas they received pledges totaling over their cont. previous request and wish to thank the people fortheir generous contributions, which seems as a reward for our strenuous efforts.
This Committee also wishes to thank all those people who assisted it in its program - Mu hils Mrs. Landen, the faithful members of its mitte and all others who helped in its work.
Be it further said that it is the hope of this Committee that the people of the Church will continue to support the Benevolence program and that the interest will now with move required energy behind it so the Word of God will he heard throughout the land, as Jesus carried it throughout the world, let us do also. MUSIC Since lash October the Chowschoir has been singing regularly Committee three Sundays a month, with Helen Benjamin singing on the first Sunday ofeach month, The chair has also sung for some special services such as the Maundy Thursday service and the Brookfield Association meeting.
On Christmas Sunday the fusion Choir also assisted in the service.
It was decided last fall to subscribe to the Chair Herald, issued monthly , which gives the choir a continuous supply of good music , with a copy for each member.
The services of Mis Helen Benjamin, as chair director, and Wirs. Lena Brown as organist were retained for the year. Reports Cont . The Board of Trustees for 1953-4. comprised the following : Charles the Land Chairman, Everett i Landen, Villiam Spooner, Clarence& Brown; and Perry Weston, Clerk. Ex officio members: Clarence Keith, Treasures of the Phone and Rev. Rufus t. Miller, Minister of the Church. The Trustees have met Trustees regularly each month throughout the year. The Church members has shown excellent judgement in their selection of Mr. Wests. and Mr. Landen as Trustees.
The largest concerns of the Board has been with the repair and improvement of the church and parsonage. The chairman is pleased to report that with the continued interest of the members and friends of the church it has been able to: (among other projects ). 1- Repair the Church roof including replacement of shingles. 2 . Repair the roof of the Parsonage barn. 3- Repoint and reflach the Church chimney. 4- Paint the Church.
5. Renovate the heating system in the parsonage which included running of some new steam lines and installation of a second radiator in the kitchen. 6. Install new fire extinguishers and fire doors in the Church which will bring a rate reduction in insurance. 7. Install new storm rush in the north & west windows of parsong. "we should like to express our appreciation to the Ways and means Committee for its devoted service, particularly; in raising the additional sum required to bring our minister to us on a full-time bacio, and in success fully achieving the goal of the Every- member canvass.
The Sanctuary has been gracefully enhanced by the generous donation of a matched pair of flower stands by a member who wishes to remain anonymous. There stands were hand- made by Mr. Manbeck and Mr. Benoit Sturbridge, Village craftsmen.
The LBS is to be complimented on the new look of the entry floor which it made possible asone of its projects. The members of the Men's Club assisted in preparing the floor for refinishing, Further, the LBS has donated a new tank type vacuum cleaner to the church. The tables which the Ld is furnishing for the church are particularly appreciated.
The repainting of the kindergarten floor and the comfort rooms are the result of an informal projex undertaken by the Landens, Benjamins, Browns,

Trustees Nro Herbert wright and several others, Mr. Robert Codle has earned special credit for his faithful traffic duty.
There have been a number of other projects undertaken by many members and friends of the church, such as electrical equipment in the westry, card holders on the back of pews and curtains for Sunday School in the westry.

Elegote to The annual spring meeting of the Brook field assoc. Along. Churches brookfield met in this church May 2, 1954 at 3 P.M. We were hast to this association for the first time in fifty years.

The business meeting was opened by Rev. J. Roy Pack and, Underator. Minutes and Roll Call read by Andrew J. Kaux, Scibe.
Rev. Fisher gave missionary report, and although our association has gained a few miles in Benevolence giving , he suggested we could still improve - and gove two options:
1- a 50% increase in Benevolence giving each year, for 3 years.
2. a percentage Budget: for example: a Church having 5000-10,000 budget might increase 17% in Benevolence giving. State Committee on Evangelism has been invited to visit individual churches and make recommendations to strengthen our lives to reach Christian work, and the care four own members.
Mr. Miller was elected to the Nominating Committee.
nesta. We were happy to receive and entertain 135 delegates and served 101 suppers. The process of this supper, fifty five dollars, eighty cents (55,80) will go to the ministers Educational fund at andover Newton Theological Seminary.
