Back in 1849, when sturdy pioneers began their westward march in the Covered Wagon, a group of steadfast men, likewise pioneers, laid the cornerstone of the Springfield Fire and Marine Insurance Company.

Resolute New Englanders, serious of purpose, deliberate yet determined of action, these men gave much of themselves to the company they founded.

The Covered Wagon, now used as the company's trade-mark, points back to 1849 -- a permanent reminder of the integrity, courage and persistence of the pioneer, which takes on new significance with the passing of the years.

YOUR RELIGION EXPLAINED In these exceptional books

REBUILDING A LOST FAITH By John L. Stoddard

Constant re-printing has so worn the original plates that the latest edition is printed from new, clear type. An exhaustive index of 13 double column pages is an added feature of this new edition. The price remains the same.

Octavo. Cloth. Net, $1.50. Paper binding, 60c; wholesale, 48c; per 100, $43.00

REBUILDING A LOST FAITH is one of the most highly recommended and widely read works on Catholic apologetics published in this generation. Over 117,000 copies have been sold. It ranks with the best in literary merit and human interest. Its author started as a candidate for the Protestant ministry and arrived, by active study, at intellectual doubt. But after forty years and a World War, "This One Holy and Apostolic Church has given me certainty for doubt-and substance for shadow."

Liturgical Marble Altar executed for Church of St. Francis of Assisi, Fitchburg, Mass., Rev. L. A. Langlois, Pastor.

Much interest has been aroused by this masterpiece of sculptured marble, and we here illustrate it in perspective to show clearly the separation between the altar and the reredos. Rising to a considerable height in order to properly fill the sanctuary, it is nevertheless still strictly rubrical in its form and design.

This exquisite piece of work in stained glass art has been executed at the stained glass studios of Daprato Statuary Company in New York. It is made of the finest quality of antique glass obtainable (Norman slabs). No paint whatever has been used in its execution with exception of the flesh parts. Contour of drapery and ornament have been developed with use of lead; an unusual brilliancy and sparkle has been obtained by this method. We will gladly submit a sample of this type of work and estimate your re- quirements.
