J - 2. That the council should declare the union dissolved between the pastor and the Church & dismiss him from his ministerial obligations to this People.
3. Agreed to send to the three following Churches for council vz: to the Church in Worthington, to the Church in Williamsburg, to the Church in Hatfield. 0300=1 2. 4. The time for the meeting of third council to be the 21st. day of this instant December.

At an ecclesiastical council holden at Chesterfield pursuant to letters missive from the Church of Christ in P.Town requesting the dismission of their Pastor upon the 20 & 21 Day of December 1774 present the Rev'd Messrs. Jonath'n Huntington with Capt'n Nath'l Daniels deligate - Joseph Lyman of Hatfield with Mr. Noah Coleman - - Amos Butler of Williamsburg with Mr.Sam'l Fairfield the Rev'd Mr. Huntington was chosen moderator, and the Rev'd Mr. Lyman scribe of the Council -
The moderator opened the council with prayer -- Then was laid before the council a coppy of the request of the Rev'd Mr. Mills to the church of Christ and Inhabitants of the Town of Chesterfield for a dismission from his pastoral care & relation to P. Church and people & likewise a coppy of the vote of the Church consenting to a calling of a council for the above P. purpose of dismissing ye P. Rev'd. Mr. Mills from his pastoral care of & relation to P; Church & likewise a coppy of ye vote of P. Town purporting a Like consent. --- The council taking into serious consideration the papers & Votes above P. are therefrom induced considering the bodily infirmities of the P. Mr. Mills to determine that his usefulness is at an end in P. Town in his relation to them as their minester, & that the interest of Christ's Kingdom would not probably 1
( ) by his continuing any longer to be the Pastor of P. Church & People, & therefore if P. Council have resolved unanimously, yt a continuation of ye pastoral relation of ye P. Rev'd Benj'n Mills to ye Church & People of
P. Town would be inexpedient & ought therefore to be dissolved; & ye P. Relation is hereby declared to be dissolved & henceforth to cease -- & should God in his Providence restore the Health of the P. Rev'd Mr. Mills so yt he may be able to perform the function of the ministerial office in ye church of our Lord & Savior, this Council do hereby recommend him to ye improvement of ye Churches 88 a minister of ye Gospel of unsullied reputation, blameless in his life & conversation, sound in ye Faith ofgood abilities, apt to Teach & well quallified

Chesterfield, Mass. - Church Records
Jesus Christ, for Righteousness, justification & Grace to do the Will of God, you would look to the holy Spirit for his Divine Influence on you at all times resolving by the Grace of God to seek Salvation by Christ in the Way of the Gospel; to love the Lord your God with all your Heart, with all your Soul & with all your Might and your Neighbour as yourself, the whole of your Life rejoicing in his Reign & Government.
You also give up to yourself this Ch'h according to the will of God, promising to watch over yourself and the Brethren as becometh Saints and in your place bear witness against Sin & in any wise rebuke a Brother & not suffer Sin upon him, Walking in all the ordinances of Christ's House, keeping up that kind dicipline in his Ch'h which he enjoins in the Gospel, with all the genuine Expressions of true love to immortal souls, that theymay be saved in the Day of the Lord Jesus Christ. You covenant to be faithful as a Member of this Church, upholding the worship of God in this Place & that you will not unnecessarily absent yourself from any Part of instituted Worship as the manner of Same is, but do what in you'lies to prepare yourself for all the ordinances of Christ so long as God may continue in this Church.
You also Covenant to be faithful in your Family, upholding the Worship of God in your House, engaging by the help of God to bring up your Children in the Nurture and admonition of the Lord, setting good examples of Piety, Righteousness & Sobriety before them holding them under the watch & discipline of the Ch'h and endeavor that they walk in all the commandments and ordinances of Christ as becometh his Desciples; and in your Family unitedly to be much in Prayer for the Convertion & Salvation of your Children and often teaching them & all under your care to honor & fear the Lord.
Whereas you have given yourself up to the Lord this Church in the Lord, you purpose & Promise that you will Live in the holy Fellowship in all holy watchfulness over yourself & this Church.
Amen.
We who have given up ourselves to God & each other in the Lord heartily invite all our Christian Neighbors to come up in this Solemn Relation that we & they may walk together as becometh Christians in this holy Fellowship.
-We who have given our Hearty assent. to the foregoing confession of Faith, and have entered into that hapy relation with God & each other by Covenant vows and agreeable to the rules & precepts of the Gospel of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ do covenant to give to the following Method of admitting Members to the Special Ordinances of the Gospel & likewise to the following Rules of Discipline, viz ;-
1 - That we believe the Ordinance of the Lord's Supper was instituted for the sole benefit of the Believers as a strengthening & confirming ordinance, therefore no others but such have a right to partake of it, for no others can Spiritually discern the Body & Blood of Christ in the Sacrement & so the unbeliever if he partakes will be an unworthy communicant. 2
2 - That we will not admit any into Fellowship & Communion but such as appear to be real Christians & are able to give such a reason of Hope there is in them as to be sufficient grounds to gain the Charity of the majority of the Ch'h in order for their admission.
3 - That there shall be a Ch'h Meeting the week before the Sacrement to be administered from Time to Time in order that Complaints (if anything may be laid before the Church & matters be settled for the Peace and edification of the Body of Christ at which meeting the candidate or candidates shall be desired to attend and answer to such questions as the Pastor or any one of the Brethren shall ask him respecting the Hope there is in him. " The Candidate or candidates who offer themselves for Examination shall be propounded at least two Sabbaths if not four, before the meeting of the Church, so that if he or she is guilty of any publick Scandal there may be sufficient opportunity for any one to lay it before the Church at this meeting for their consideration, and that no
