Voted, further, That the sinking funds that have been and may hereafter be accumulated under the provisions of the Act of 1870, Chapter 160, Section 7, shall be applicable, so far as they may be, to the payment of the principal and interest of the said "Melrose Water Loan," act of 1893, and that the surplus of the net income and the water rents,

together with all amounts appropriated from time to time for the payment of the principal sum shall continue to be set apart as a sinking fund as provided in the said act.


Art. 6. Voted, unanimously, That the selectmen be and hereby are authorized to sell for removal the building on the town land on the corner of Lynde and Main streets, known as the Barry lot, and after said building is removed that the said land be transferred to the park commission of the town for public use.


Art. 7. Voted, unanimously, That the contract dated April 24, 1894, provisionally made between the board of trustees of the Young Men's Christian Association, of Mel- rose, and the selectmen and the trustees of the public library of Melrose, for the use by the town of quarters in the building to be erected by said Young Men's Christian Association, is hereby ratified and approved.


Art. 8. Voted, unanimously, To accept a deed from James McIntyre, Rhoda P. Littlefield and Homer S. Littlefield, of the land between Main street and Ell pond, from Ell pond brook northerly to land now, or formerly, of McIntyre and Shute.


Art. 9. No business presented under this article.

To either of the Constables of the town of Melrose in the county of Middlesex: GREETING.


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify the inhabitants of the town of Melrose, qualified to vote in elections and town affairs to meet at the Town Hall, on Monday, the ninth day of July, A. D. 1894, at 8 o'clock, p. m., then and there to act on the following articles, viz. :


Article I. To choose a moderator.


Art. 2. To see if the town will vote to release, in con- junction with the city of Malden and the city of Medford, unto Jonathan Munyan, Simeon Snow and Elmer P. Howe, trustees under a declaration of trust, dated April 12th, 1893, and recorded with Middlesex So. Dist. Deeds, book 2187, page 13, all the right, title, interest and estate which the town of Melrose and the cities of Malden and Medford have in and to a lot of land, situate in that part of Stone- ham called Wyoming, and bounded southeasterly on Wood- land road, sometimes called Wyoming street, northeasterly on land of Wheildon, northwesterly in part on land formerly of Coleman and in part on land formerly of Caraher, and in part on land conveyed to the said town of Melrose and the cities of Malden and Medford, by said Munyan et als., trus- tees, and southwesterly on land of the city of Medford, by virtue of a taking thereof by the town of Melrose and the cities of Malden and Medford, the lands to be so released to be more particularly described in the written vote to be offered for the passage by the town, to authorize such release.

H. Mayo, lots number three and four, both marked Alice J. Hall, lot num- ber nine, marked Helen L. Butterfield, lot number ten, marked L. W. Gilman, lot number eleven, marked L. W. Gilman, and lot number eight, marked C. F. Churchill, on a plan of lands taken by the town of Melrose, city of Mal- den and the town (now city) of Medford, under their water acts, recorded with Middlesex So. Dist. Deeds, Book of Plans number sixty-nine, plan number four, and more par- ticularly to be described in the written vote to be offered for passage by the town authorizing such release.


Art. 4. To see if the town will vote to release, in con- junction with the city of Malden and city of Medford, unto Joel E. Foster all the right, title, interest and estate, which the town of Melrose and the cities of Malden and Medford have in and to the lot of land situate in that part of Stone- ham called Wyoming, and being lot number seven, marked Joel E. Foster, on the plan mentioned in article two of this warrant, and unto Patrick J. Coleman, all the right, title, in- terest and estate which the town of Melrose and said cities have in and to that lot of land, situate in said Wyoming, and being lot number six, marked Patrick J. Coleman on said plan, and unto George F. Coleman all the right, title, interest and estate, which the town and said cities have in and to that lot of land, situate in said Wyoming and being lot number five, and marked George F. Coleman on said plan, by virtue of a taking of said lots of land by the town of Melrose, the city of Malden and the town (now city), of Medford under their water acts, the land to be released

Art. 5. To see if the town will borrow the sum of twenty- five hundred dollars for the purpose of further improve- ments on Main street.


Art. 6. To hear and act upon the reports of committees and for the transaction of any other business which may le- gally come before this meeting.


And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting at- tested copies thereof at the Town Hall, each of the post offices and depots in the town, not less than seven days be- fore the day appointed for said meeting, and by leaving printed copies of the warrant at the dwellings of the legal voters before the day of meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, to the town clerk, at the time and place of said meeting.

Deeds, book 2187, page 13, all the right, title, interest and estate which said town and cities have in and to the tract of land hereinafter described by virtue of a taking thereof by the town of Melrose, the city of Malden and the town of Medford (now city of Medford), under their water acts, to wit : a certain lot of land situate in Stoneham, in the part thereof called Wyoming, in said Commonwealth, on the westerly side of Wyoming street, otherwise called Woodland road, and bounded and described as follows, viz : beginning at the north-easterly corner thereof on said Woodland road by land of Wheildon, thence about southwesterly on said Woodland avenue about four hundred and fifty-four and 10-100 (454.10) feet to land of the city of Medford, thence about north-westerly on said land of the city of Medford two hundred and fifty-two and 34-100 (252.34) feet to a stake, thence about north-easterly in part on land deeded to said city of Medford and city of Malden and town of Melrose by said Jonathan Munyan and others, trustees as aforesaid, and in part on land formerly of Caraher, and in part on land formerly of Coleman, about four hundred and seventy-four and 69-100, (474.69) feet, to said Wheildon land to a stake, thence about south- easterly on said Wheildon land about two hundred and twenty and 4-10 (220.4) feet to the point begun at ; being a part of the land taken by the city of Malden, town of Med- ford (now city of Medford), and the town of Melrose as shown on a plan thereof and marked Jonathan Munyan, et als., trustees, and recorded with Middlesex So. Dist. Deeds, book of plans No. 69, plan No. I. And George Newhall, treasurer of the town of Melrose, is hereby authorized in the

name of said town of Melrose to join with such person or persons as said city of Malden and said city of Medford shall severally authorize to act in effecting such release, and for the consideration of one dollar release and quitclaim the described premises unto said Munyan, Snow and Howe, trustees as aforesaid, their successors, heirs and assigns. Such release to be in full satisfaction of any and all damages by reason of the taking of said premises as aforesaid.

Also one other parcel of land situate in said Stoneham in said part thereof called Wyoming and westerly of the above described lot of land and bounded and described as follows, viz : -


Northerly on the land marked on said plan "Langwood avenue," about one hundred and seventy feet ; westerly on land formerly of C. F. Churchill, being lot number twelve (No. 12) on said plan about one hundred nine and 59-100 feet ; southerly on lot number eight (No. 8) on said plan and marked thereon C. F. Churchill, and on lot number sev- en (No. 7) on said plan and marked thereon " Joel E. Fos- ter," and on lot number six (No. 6) on said plan and marked thereon "Patrick J. Coleman," and lot number five on said plan and marked thereon "Geo. F. Coleman ;" easterly on lots numbered one and two on said plan and marked thereon Z. H. Mayo lot number one, N. W. Mayo lot number two. Being the lots number nine (No. 9) on said plan and marked thereon " Helen L. Butterfield," and number ten (No. 10) on said plan and marked thereon "L. W. Gilman," and lot number eleven (II) on said plan and marked thereon “L. W. Gilman." Reference is hereby made to said plan for a more particular description of all the released premises. And said cities and town of Melrose do also hereby release unto said Munyan, Snow and Howe, trustees as aforesaid, all the rights acquired by said taking in and to the said land marked " Langwood avenue" on said plan, so far as it bounds on the above described two parcels of land.

Also one other lot of land situate in said Stoneham in said part thereof called Wyoming on the northerly side of said Hurd avenue and bounded as follows, viz : Southerly on said Hurd avenue about sixty-six feet ; westerly on land of said town of Melrose about one hundred feet ; northerly on said lot number twelve (No. 12) on said plan in part and in part on said lot number eleven (No. II) on said plan sixty- six feet more or less, and easterly on said lot number seven (No. 7) on said plan about one hundred and three and 6-10 feet. Being lot number eight on said plan and marked thereon "C. F. Churchill."


And George Newhall, treasurer of the town of Melrose, is hereby authorized in the name of said town of Melrose, to join with such person or persons as said city of Malden and said city of Medford shall severally authorize to act in effecting such release, and for the consideration of one dollar release and quitclaim the described premises unto said Munyan, Snow and Howe, trustees as aforesaid, their successors, heirs and assigns.

For governor, lieutenant governor, councillor for the sixth councillor district, secretary of the commonwealth, treasurer and receiver general, auditor, and attorney general and a representative from the seventh district of Massachusetts to the fifty-fourth congress. Also for a senator from the sixth Middlesex senatorial district and for a representative to the general court from the eleventh Middlesex representative district, one county commissioner, a county treasurer and a register of deeds for Middlesex county. Also to give in their votes on the same ballot, "Yes or No,-"for or against-the following article of amendment to the constitution relative to commissioners of insolvency : "so much of article nineteen of the articles of amendment to the constitution of the Commonwealth as is contained in the following words, 'commissioners of insolvency ' is hereby annulled."


The polls shall be opened at six o'clock a. m., and shall be closed at thirty minutes past four o'clock p. m.,
