WARRANT FOR MEETING, NOVEMBER 15, 1894.


To either of the Constables of the Town of Melrose, in the County of Middlesex : GREETING :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify the inhabitants of the town of Melrose, qualified to vote in elections and town affairs to meet at the Town Hall, on Thursday, the fifteenth day of November, A. D. 1894, at 7.30 o'clock, p. m., then and there to act on the following articles, viz :


Article I. To choose a moderator.


Art. 2. To hear and act upon the report of the committee in reference to the draining of Cedar Park.


Art. 3. To appropriate the sum of twelve hundred dollars ($1200) for the purpose of draining Cedar Park.


Art. 4. To see if the town will purchase, take or other- wise gain possession of the property lying between Main street and Crystal pond, opposite the end of Porter street, formerly owned by the heirs of J. D. Littlefield, and convert the same into a public park, and appropriate or otherwise raise the necessary amount of money to pay for the same. On petition of W. C. Stevens and 191 others.

Art. 5, To see if the town will accept the jury list as revised.


Art. 6. To see if the town will accept a street running from Main street to Green street, now called West Linden street, as laid out by the selectmen.


Art. 7. To hear and act upon the reports of committees, and for the transaction of any other business which may legally come before this meeting.

a boulevard may be laid out by the board of Metropolitan Park Commissioners from the Middlesex Fells reservation to the city of Boston, be it voted by the town of Melrose that it is the desire of this town that said boulevard may be constructed in order to bring the Middlesex Fells reserva- tion into direct communication with Boston, and to give the various municipalities on this side of the Mystic river, with a total population of 100,000, an adequate and decent means of communication with Boston, the present lack of which is gravely detrimental to their proper growth and develop- ment.


Voted, unanimously, That the treasurer be and hereby is authorized to pay all necessary expenses which may be incurred from January I, 1895, in anticipation of the annual appropriations, said amounts to be charged to the several appropriations.


Voted, unanimously, That Royal P. Barry, Levi S. Gould, Edward L. Whittier, Francis W. Hunt, Stephen F. Keyes, John Larrabee, John A. Fish, Moses S. Page and Daniel Norton be a finance committee for the ensuing year.


Voted, unanimously, That the park commissioners, together with four others to be appointed by the chair, take into con- sideration matters in relation to the internal improvement of the town so far as parks are concerned, and report at some future meeting.


The four appointed by the chair are Col. F. S. Hesseltine, Hon. W. E. Barrett, Joshua T. Nowell and John W. Robson.
