ADJOURNED TOWN MEETING March 14, 1928


On March 14, 1928, the meeting reconvened and did the following business.


Article 22. To see if the Town will fix the compen- sation of the Assessors and appropriate and assess the same.


Voted that the compensation of each assessor of taxes be six dollars per day of eight hours.


Article 23. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Chapter 82, Section 37, of the General Laws and amendments thereto, providing that the Se- lectmen may establish building lines.

Article 24. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of $12,500.00 with help from the State and County, for the reconstruction of Pond Street, or do or act.


Voted that the Town appropriate and assess the sum of $12,000 with help from the State and County for the reconstruction of Pond Street. Vote unanimous.


Article 25. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money, by borrowing or otherwise, for the purpose of relocating and reconstructing Old Sudbury Road, the causeway and bridges on said road, or do or act.

Article 26. To see if the Town will vote to appro- priate and assess a sum of money not to exceed one hun- dred dollars for the purpose of purchasing and erecting highway traffic signs, or do or act.

Article 45. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a sum not exceeding $150 for the purchase and in- stallation of a hydrant to be placed at a distance of not more than 500 feet from some part of each of the build- ings now on land of Anna M. Bennett, in Wayland, which lies between the land of Boston and Maine R. R. and State Road East and outside of Wayland Center, so call- ed; such purchase and installation to be made by the Water Commissioners of the Town of Wayland, or do or act.

VOTES ENACTED AT THE SPECIAL TOWN MEET- ING, OCTOBER 22, 1928 Town Clerk's Office

John Connelly, Moderator:


Pursuant to the foregoing warrant the inhabitants to the Town of Wayland met this day and did the follow- ing business.


Article 1. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money to provide for the expenses in the Department of the Overseers of the Poor.


Voted that there be raised and appropriated the sum of $2.500 for the Board of Public Welfare same to be in addition to the amounts heretofore appropriated, it be- ing deemed an emergency, and to meet said appropriation the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen. be and hereby is, authorized to borrow said sum and to issue a note or notes of the Town therefore under authority of and in accordance with the Provisions of Item 9, Sec. 8. Chapter 44, General Laws. as set forth in Chapter 291 of the Acts of 1928; said loan to have the approval of a Board consisting of the Attorney General. the State Treasurer and the Director of Accounts. Vote unani- mous.


Article 2. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of $1,200 to cover the cost of equipping a room in the Cochituate School, and for a teacher's salary to January 1st, and to furnish lockers in the basement of the Way- land High School, or do or not.


Voted unanimously to pass over the Article.


Article 3. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for general highway purposes, or do or not.

Article 4. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for the completion of the tennis court on the Playground in Cochituate.

Article 5. To consider and act upon the question of instructing the Water Commissioners to extend the water system to the northerly part of the Town and to raise and appropriate money therefor, or to take any action relative thereto.


Voted to refer the matter back to the present Com- mittee for a more detailed report.


Article 6. To see what action the Town will take in extending the water main from Five Paths westerly along Old Connecticut Path, and raise money therefor, or do or act.


Voted to refer the matter to a committee to be ap- pointed by the Moderator.


Article 7. To see if the Town will acquire for park purposes a plot of land in Cochituate bounded by East Plain, East Pond and School Streets, and raise money therefore, or do or not.


Voted to refer the matter to the Planning Board to make a report at the next Town Meeting.


Article 8. To see if the Town will vote to appro- priate a sum of money, in addition to that appropriated under Article 24 of the Town Meeting of March, 1924, for the erection of a building for housing Highway De- partment equipment, or do or act.


Voted to pass over the Article.


Voted to dissolve the meeting at 8:55 P. M.
