Hannah Whitcomb, wife of Jonathan2, was slain by the Indians July 18, 1692, being then, it is supposed, in the Peter Joslin family. Peter Joslin's wife and children were killed on the same date. "Hannah could not have been a Joslin, I think. Certainly no such daughter of Thomas Joslin is named. There was no Hannah Waters. There was a Hannah Lewis (born 1649) a near neighbor to the Whitcombs, and I have thought she might be Jonathan's Hannah, but have no proof of it."

Francis Worster, 2ª s. Francis, b. 1698, was a blacksmith in Littleton sometime from 1722 to 1728, and afterward settled as minister of the gospel in Hollis, N. H.


Jona Worster also resided in Littleton.

Capt. Leonard Whiting m. Anne b. 1736, dau. Rev. Willard Hall of Westford. Capt. Whiting was residing in Littleton in 1773, when he headed a subscription for a bell, and was probably here before and after that time.


Rev. W". L. Whiting m. 1809 Mary Kidder b. 1780 (see p. 246). Sam1 Whiting was hired for the army '76.


John Whiting resided in Littleton 1778; he substituted for his brother William in the army.

John White, lot 13 Lancaster Neck 1653. House was twice destroyed by fire, first in 1675 by Philip's Indians. He m. Joanna who d. 18-3 1654. His children were : Mrs. Rowlandson, Eliz. Kerley, Hannah, Mrs. Drew.


Dea. Josiah White, 1684 Constable at the resettling of Lancaster, had 13 children : Sarah '80, Joseph '82, John '84.


Capt. John White a brave soldier 1724, m. Eunice.


Capt. Joseph White was in the Revolutionary War in the regiment of Col. Asa Whitcomb. Was he not also deacon and the one elected in 1761?

Miles Sampson b. 1690, m. Apr 28 1713 Sarah Studley b. 1690. He d. Nov 26 1784 aged 93, she d. Nov 2ª 1782 aged 92. They had 8 children.

1 Dr. Stearns notes that John Bruce and wife Elizebeth in Sudbury had children: Hannah b. 1672, Mary b. 1680, Eunice b. 1684, Martha b. 1685. They are supposed to be parents also of Roger, John, David, etc.


2 Roger Bruce was in Marlborough 1672, was a miller at Bent's Mill, which was included in Southboro when it was set off from Marlborough. He d. in Southboro Sept 16 1733, will proved 1734. By wife Elizebeth he had:
