This is a Record of the first Church meeting of the first Baptist Church of Christ in Cheshire after the Death of our Beloved Elder Peter Werden who died February 25th AD 1808. The Brethren and sisters met at the Schoolhouse near Mr Na than Bowens


Istly Open the meeting by singing Praise to Almighty God praye by Brethren Daniel Bowen and Daniel Chapman with a good degree of ferver and humility.


2dly Chose Brother Aaron Bowen to act as moderator 3dly The Brethren and Sisters open their minds to each other with a good degree of fredom and a wonderfull determination to stand in their Lot, and appeared to bee strong in the Lord and in the power of his might


4 thly Brother Josiah Patridge Returned and took up his travil with the Church by his Confession and was Received by the Brethren


5 thly Brother Samuel Stafford Returned and took up his travil with the Church by his Confession and was Received by the Brethren


6 thly Voted to send Brother Joseph Perkins a letter to let him know that he was formerly put under admonition and we Cannot send him a Letter of Recommend till he takes the difi- culty out of the way

2dly Agreed to look into the Records and see to members where they are


3dly Chose Deacon Carpenter and Brother Israel Cole to Visit Brother Royal and sister Polly Aldrich and sister Cloe Brown and Inform them that unless they attend to their Duty and take up their trivil with the Church we must with Draw fellow- ship from them


4thly Cose Brethren Josiah Partridge and William Claflin to visit Sister Molly Dimond and inform her that unless she attends to her Duty the Church must withdraw fellowship from her


5thly Voted to withdraw fellowship from the following sisters for Neglect of Duty Dorkis Phillips, Jolly Brown, Nemire Dean, Polly Burlingame married a Pearce since Baptised


6thly Received the Returns of the Committee to get grave stones for Elder Werden and agreed that they should get them as soon as posible and the Brethren agree to pay the expense in equal- lity amongst the Brethren


7thly Voted that the Clerk procure a bound Book to keep the Church records in at the expence of the Church.

3dly Brother John Watterman Come forward and Confessed his fault in not maintaining his travel with the Church and the Brethren felt free to forgive him and receive him into fellow- ship ind give him a letter to join the Church in Adams. But we Chose to see some of the Elderly that was not present and the matter is left in this Circustance


4 thly Appointed Brother Daniel Bowen and Samuel Chapman to Visit Brother William Rogers and Labour with him for his not attending to our Covenant meetings


5 thly Appointed Deacon Bowen and Brother Joshiah Patridge to Labour with Brother Royal Aldrich and sister Polly his wife for not fullfilling their' promise to attend our Covenant meet- ings after being Requested a Number of times

3dly Caleb Brown entered a Complaint against Deacon Stephen Carpenter foraccusing him the said Brown of Being a fals and a Dishonest man


4 thly Appointed a Church meeting to take place at Deacon Car- penter on thursday Next at Nine o Clock in the morning to attend to the Complaint of Caleb Brown against Deacon Carpenter

3dly Took up the Complaint of Caleb Brown against Deacon Carpenter


4 thly Voted that we approve of the admonition against Caleb Brown a recorded 18 years past altho It is not so expressive as It might have Been as It appears by other papers among the Church papers


5 thly Voted to ask the assistance of some of the Brethren of the third Baptist Church in Cheshire


6 thly Voted to adjourn this meeting till Saturday after Next to meet at one o clock P.M.

4 thly Voted to Call upon Eld Tod, Eld Keyes, Eld Francis and the Baptist Church in Adams to assist as a Council on the above Business to set on Wednesday the 17 of June Next at the old meeting house at 9 oclock in the morning

2dly Elder John Hammond Came forward on sum business with the Church Relating to his being under admonition the admonition Containing three allegations


3dly Older Hammond Confessed that he was to blame and had done very wrong in all the three accusations alledged against him and Confessed he was most hartily sorry for his Conduct, and the Brethren manifested their satisfaction with his Confession and Voted to give him a letter of Recommend.

3d Took up the matter between Deacon Carpenter and Caleb Brown the Brethren Voted to send Caleb Brown a Coppy of the Church Record that was Recorded July 5th 1794 we find that Deacon Carpenter Confessed to the satisfaction of the Church their standing and therefore we think that we had no right to take the matter up.


4th Took up the Case of Mersena Thatcher and Considering a letter which we Received from her this Day Voted to send her a letter of denial of fellowship and appointed Brethren Joseph Arnold, Daniel Bowen and Allen Brown to write a letter to in- form her of our proceeding.

October 15th 1809 Received a letter from the Baptist Church in Windsor Requesting assistance of some of the Brethren to set in Council with them to set apart Brother Daniel Chapman jun'r to the work of the ministry


The Brethren met this day and agreed to answer the Request and appointed Deacons Stephen Carpenter and Aaron Bowen and Brethren Charles Walker and Allen Brown to attend the Council with the Church in Windsor.

P. 14 At a Church meeting June 2nd 1810 The Brethren and sisters Met at the Meeting house Ist Deacon Carpenter open the meeting by Prayer 2d The Brethren and sisters open their minds to each other with a good Degree of freedom altho but few met to gather 3d Voted that Brother Josiah Patridge go and see the Brethren and sisters that are not present and Invite them to Come to our Next Church meeting 4th Received Brother Bartemus Braman Into fellowship upon his Letter of Recommend from the Baptist Church in Goshen 5th Voted to send a letter to the association and Brother Bartemus Braman as our messenger.
