Joshua Rhoads Laying before ye selectmen his Inability to serve as Constable according as he was Chose Last town Meeting by Reson of his fathers age & Infirmity & his owne inability of body by Reason of weaknes & other things & he offered to hire Zechariah Rand to serve in his place the which ye selectmen acceped & desired the sd Rand might be sworn to the office of Constable in the place of Joshua Rhoads afore said

at a Meeting of ye selectmen of Lyn : aprill : 12th : 1703 Ensigne Joseph Newhall Mr. John Poole are apointed & Impowered to Pambulate on ye Line betwixt the town of Salem & our town on the Vper Range : & Left Samll Graves and Mr. Thomas Lewis on the Lower Range all to meet at the house wher Hugh Jones formerly Lived in Salem : on tuesday being the twentith Day of this Instant month of Aprill at Eight of ye Clock in ye morning their to Joyne with such as are apointed by the town of Salem to attend their Respective service
We Under written being Chosen & Impowered by ye selectmen of the towns of Salem & Lyn to Run the bounds between sd towns have pam- bulated as followeth. beginning at a heap of stones behind wher the widdow Jones formerly Lived & from thenc about Norwest to another heap of stones & so from station to station till we Come to the brink of the hill by ye Edge of ye pond Caled Humphries pond to ye Iseland in said pond & from thence to ye place wher ye water Runs out of said pond at the Norwest Corner & from thence to a heap of stones on ye Ege of a hill in sight of sd pond : & from thence from station to station being heaps of stones to a pine tree Lying on ye ground Called the seven Mens bounds. & from thence to a pine tree with a heap of stones at ye Roote of it formerly marked with 6 marks : & from thence from station to station being heaps of stones about : 20 : Rods distance from Each other to a white oake tree Marked : S : L : Nigh Ipswich River

Left Samuell Grave & Mr. Daniell Mansfield are apointed & Impowered to preambulate on the Line betwixt the town of Salem & our town on ye Lower Range & to Meet at ye house where Hugh Joanes formerly Lived in Salem on Munday being the tenth day of May Instant at Nine of ye Clock in the Morning ther to Joyne with such as are appointed by the town of Salem to atend that service

Wee whose Names are Under written being appointed by the towns of Salem & Lyn to go in Pambulation on the Lower Line between sd townes have accordingly gon in Pambulation from a heap of stones bearing west southerly from the house wher Peter twist junr Now Lives it being the same house wher the Widdow Joanes formerly Lived to the head of Long pond alias Capt. Gorwins pond to a Red oak tree with a heap of stones at ye foot of it ther being in the Line between the two above Mentioned bounds twenty & seven heaps of stones which we Renewed and from the above sd Red oake to near the head of one of the brances of spring pond in which Line from the Red oake to the pond are six heaps of stones which we Renewed & from thence on the other side of the pond to a heap of stones on the brink of the hill & so to the spring Commonly Called Lin spring & from thence to the middle of Mr. Blanoes house in which Line are about : 34 heaps of stones which We Renewed & from the Middle of blanoes House Down to the sea whear is a heap of stones to the westward of the out Let which we have Renewed & have Mutually agreed in the above Mentioned Line or bounds as witnes our hands

Whereas the Selectmen Did agree with Joseph Collins and Allin Bread to beuld a house to Keep schoole in & their being a differrance about the timber and well doing said house the selectmen braught it to the town : and the towne by Voate with ye Consent of said Collins & Bread Chose Clark Potter & Left Graves & Left it with them to Vew the frame of said house & Make Report to the select Men how they find it & whether it is suitable & sufficient & if they two Cannot agree about it then they to Chuse the third Man

Complaint being Made to the towne that Mr Eleazer Lindsey senr of Lyn had set up or Caused to be set up partof a house or part of the frame of a

house on Lyn town Common Near to Salem Long Pond so Cald which is Like to be a great damage to the towne
therfore Voated that the said Eleazer Lindsey shall within fourteen Days Next after this present Day take the said part of a house or part of the frame of a house of from the Common afore sd & if it be not taken of as afore sd within the sd fourteen Days then for Every day it shall Rernaine on the Common after the said fourteen Days are Exspired the said Lindsey shall pay to the towne twenty shillings per day to be Recovered by the selectmen for the time being allso the selectmen are fully Impowered to take & yeuse any such other ways or Means as they shall see Cause to Move said part of a house or part of the frame of a house of from the Common or to Prosecute said Eleazer Lindsey in any due Course of Law for his seting the same on the towne Common as they shall think Meet

Whereas we the subscribers are Chosen a Committe by the town to agree with Mr. Jerimiah Belcher (if we see Cause) about the bounds of his Land that Lys in the town of Lyn we Meeting Vppon the place wher was ye sd Mr. Jerimiah Belcher both parties agree as followeth. that the bounds of sd Land begin at a Little while oake tree marked which is the southerly or south East Corner bound of Daniel: Hitchens senrs Land from thence Runing downward to a Little Maple tree marked in a Little Run of water so Runing on a Line to a swamp White oake tree Marked: from thence Runing on a Line to another swamp White oake tree marked : from thence on a line to a Maple tree Marked: from thence on a Line to an Vpland White oake tree Marked: from thence on a Line to a Nother Vpland white oake tree Marked at the south East End of a Little swamp : from thence as the brooke or Run of water Runs downe till it comes to the said Belchers fence: so on as the fence Now stands: allways Reserveing the Country Roade or high way as it is Laid oute through sd Belchers Land with oute

Voated Joseph Brown shail have six pole of Land (Viz) Common Land Lying Near to his owne Land by the fresh Marsh provided he pays six shillings for the same & to be set out by Ens John Newhall & Moses Hudson March : 1705/6

Pursuant to a Voate of ye towne March : 1- 1702/3 have agreed that the high way that Leads from Salem to Reding shall be divided as followeth Viz the Middle of ye hill that Lys westward from ye second bridge from humphries farm so from that place that part of the town that Lys on the Northerd side of the high way that Leads from Salem to Reding to Make & Maintaine the west ward part of said way & the Remainder of the town to Make & Mainetain the East ward part of said way that Lys next Salem & Each part of the town to Maintaine all the ways that Lys on Each side of that way that Leads from Salem to Redding. Provided all ways if it should so happen that any Exterordenary Chang should arise on the town for Makeing & Maintaining the great bridge so Cald More than Vse to be it shall be borne by the whole towne
at a Meeting of ye selectmen October : 11th 1703 Left Johnson Ensigne Joseph Newhall Sargant Divin & John Burrill are appointed to Run the Line betwixt the town Common & the Land of Joshua Rhoads & Josiah Rhoads that Lyes where the said Josiah Rhoads now Lives & to Meet with such as they shall apoint or them selves at the house of sd Josiah Rhoads

on frighday the 22 day of October instant at one of ye Clock after Noone in order to do the same
We the subscribers being apointed by the selectmen to Run the Line betwixt the towne Common & ye Land of Joshua & Josiah Rhoads that Lys wher sd Josiah Rhoads Now Lives we met at sd Josiah Rhoadses on ye 22. day of October 1703. Wher was ye sd two Rhoadses with Mr. John Greenland & Mr. Isaac Hill we Could not agree on ye place where to Run sd Line they denying to Run wher formerly it was agreed on but ther being severall heaps of stones Raised to Mak a Line betwixt the black oake stump at ye south East Corner of sd Land & ye fresh Marsh Known by ye Name of ye Capt Marsh. which heaps of stones was Raised on ye town Common in an indirect way contrary to ye mind of ye selectmen & denyed by them to be ye bounds of sd Rhoadses Land : therefore we then puled down & demollished sd heaps of stones

the towne being Informed that severall persons has cut down severall trees or bushes in Nahants whereby there is Like to be no shade for ye Cretors there Therefor Voated that if any person or persons shall at any time hereafter Cut down or Cui upon any Manner of Green tree or trees green bush or bushes on the Vpland in Either of Nahants such person or persons
