Deacon Ballord Robert Potter Left Johnson and John Burrill or any three of them are apointed to Run ye Line betwixt the Towne Common & ye farm of Ens Edward & thoms Bakers & to Meet at the house of Ens Baker on Monday the 18th of March instant at two of the Clock afternoone on order to do the same & the Bakers to be timely notifyed therof

Samuell Collins & Ebenezer Burrill are apointed & Impowered to Perambulate on ye Line betwixt the towne of Salem & our towne on ye Upper part and Joseph Collins senior & thomas ffarrar on ye Lower part all to Meet at ye House of Peeter Twiss Alias Jones of Salem afore sd on Monday being the : 22d of Aprill Instant at Eight of ye Clock in the Morning there to Joyne with such as are apointed by Salem to atend that service

Voated that all ye Vndivided Common Lands in ye Towne Except the training field & the severall highways shall be Divided to & among all ye propriators & inhabitants that have Land in the towne of their owne in fee (within fence) the one fourth part of ye same at ye Least Vpland & Each part of the towne to have their parts therin as Near to them as May be thaught sutable in Respect of ye Conveniancy of the Wood : and to be Divided by such Rules & in such way & Manner as shall be agreed Vpon by a Committee of three Men which shall be Chose by the Towne or any two of them agreeing therto which three Men are to be all Inhabitants of some other Towne or towns : and when such Division shall be Made then Each propriators part of Land therin to be Recorded in ye towne Book with ye Buts & bounds & so to be to them their heirs & assignes for Ever with all ye wood timber herbage & all other the privilidges & appurtenances ther Vnto in anywise belonging : and ye Charge for Doing the same to be paid by Each propriator according to the number of acres such propriator shall have therin said Committe to Leave Conveniant ways in all places as thay shall think fit

We the subscribers being apointed to Vew ye highway that Leads through part of ye farm formerly Humphries by Tod hole so Cald & to agree with ye Now propriators therof & set out so Much of ye towne Comon by way of Exchange for sd highways going through sd propriators as May be Conveniant : Did on ye : 25th of May : 1705 : Meet w Capt Thomas Nickols Mr. Jno Bancrof & Mr. Ebenezer Bancroft propriators of sd farm of Humphries being on ye spot Did then & there agree & set out sd Land in way of Exchang in way & Manner as followeth: Viz : agred with sd Capt Nickols that the highway shall Lead from Mr. Ingullses Land Entoring on sd Nickolses Land on ye westard side of a White oake tree Marked as the highway Now goes through sd Nickolses Land to Mr. Ebenezer Bancrofts Land & the towne to have all that Land of Capt thom Nickols on ye westard side from ye forenamed white oake tree Marked on a Line Northerly to a black oake Marked thence to another black oake Marked standing on the brow of a hill Neare Mr. Ebenr Bancroft Land ye Whole Containing about three acres & halfe be it More or Less in Consideration & satisfaction wherof we the afore sd have agreed wt sd Capt Nickols & set out to him of ye towne Common on ye southerly part of his Land Next ye oxpastor so Cald about three acres of Land being 8 poles wide at Each Corner & 60 poles Long as ye bounds are Now stated also we have farther agreed with Mr. Ebenezer Bancroft yt ye afore sd Highway shall go through his propriaty being sixteen poles & about three qurs Long two poles wide & he to have in Consideration & satisfaction therof a small gore of Land of towne Common adjoyning at ye southermost End of his owne Land towards ye ox pastor so Cald being about 4 : poles at ye southwesteliy Corner & about one pole at ye south Easterly Corner wide : at a small Black oake Marked being bounded with an other Marked tree on ye other Corner afore sd Containing about : 75 poles of Land be ye same More or less - we the afore sd have farther agreed with Mr. John Bancroft for sd High ways going through his Land . 27 . poles two poles wide. 54 poles all that he have of ye towne Common ajoyning at ye End of his owne Land at ye southermost End Next the ox pastor afore said between Mr. Nickols Land & his brothers Land about Double of What ye highway goes through his Land & have set it out about 4 poles wide be ye

same More or Less & bound Marked & stated - and we the aforenamed have finally agreed with the aforenamed three propriators that the said high way shall goe through their Land which Lyeth in


in partnership about 33 . poles Long two poles wide to the two pine trees as the highway Now Lyeth & from thence as the highway Now Lyeth & Leadeth Northerly to Bateses Brook so Cald & in Consideration & satis- faction for ye same it is agreed that ye sd three propriators Namely Capt thomas Nichols Mr. John & Ebenezer Bancroftt to have all ye Common Lands ajoyning to sd Highway Lying on ye Eastermost side of said high way Excepting one yard of Land Lying on that side of ye highway ajoyning from ye 2 pine trees to bateses Brook afore sd also the towne to have all ye Land that was the three propriators Lying on the westwardly side of said highway the towne Leaveing : 2 poles for ye highway to be in wedth in Cluding ye yard or 3 foote of Land Left on the Easterly side as afore said & ye afore sd Land to be to them their heirs for Ever in Confermation of this being a Mutuall agreement have subscribed our hands

The Towne Considering the great Difficulty in Laying out Highways on the Common Land in ye Towne that so Each person that shall have Lotts therin (when it shall be Divided) May Come to fetch their wood & other things that shall be on their Lands by reason of the swamps hills & Rockenes of the Land


Therfore Voated that after said Common Lands shall be Divided Every person Interested therin shall have free Liberty at all times to pass & Repass over Each others Lotts of Land to fetch their wood & such other things as shall be Vpon their Lands in any place or places & for No other End provided they Do not Cut downe any sort of tree or trees in their so passing over

We the subscribers being apointed by the select Men to Lay out a high way in that part of the Towne where Ensigne Bancrofts Lvies in Lewe of the old acustamed way Mentioned in the old Towne Boke the 15th of June : 1677 Doe Lay it out as followeth : we began at Batses Brook where the old Cart way Now Lies so Vpwards to a Rock on the brow of a hill & so by the way that Comes from Bassets Meadows so Cald & so Leaveing he old way turning Easterly by two Little White oake trees Marked on the Easterly side. & so along by the Easterly side of two stakes set downe & so to a pine tree Marked on the East side and the way Lyeth on the Easterly side of the above sd Marks & so to a pine tree that is a bound between Ens Ebenezer Bancroft & John Goings Land & ye way Lyeth on ye westerly side of said tree and so a Little Rounding Vpon a Ridge of Land to a Crooked white oake tree Marked on the west side & so to another white oake Marked on the west side & so to a Rock on the Easterly side of the way & so to a Little while oake Marked on the west side & so to another Little white oake Marked on the west side : & so to a white oake Marked on the west side & so to a flat Rock on the East side of the way & Nine foote East of said Rock & so as ye Cart way now goeth to a stake on the East side of the way & so to a great Rock on ye East side of ye Cart way and so to John Goings fence at it now stands Vnto the way that goeth to Wills Hill & this highway is to be two poles wide and against the pond

We the subscribers being apointed to agree wt Robert Gray & settle the bounds betwixt his Meadow formerly Saddlers Meadow & the Towne Common Did on the : 16th of Decemr : 1706 : go wt sd Gray to sd Land beginning at the Vper End of the old sluce pond on the souther Most Corner of sd Marsh Where We Made the first bound a stake with a heape of stones : from thence Runing Norwest to a small tree Marked : thence to a great Rock with a heape of stones thence to a small bushe Marked with a heape of stones from thence a Cross sd Meadowo North East to a White oake Marked standing on the side of ye hill thence on a Line to a small White oake Marked thence on a Line to a black oake stump with a heape of stones thence a Cross sd Meadow to a Corner stake standing on the top of a hill being Thomas Chadwells & Widdow Lois Burrills bound Mark : thence Runing of a Line southe west to the sd stake being the first bound Named these being a Mutuall agreement of bothe parties that all the Meadow without sd bounds to be Towne Comon & all the Vpland Included within said bounds to be said Grays in witness have set our hands : it is also agreed before signeing that the sd Graye Leave a Convenient highway by the sd Thomas Chadwells & Widdow Burrills Corner bound stake

Whereas the selectmen of Lyn are Enformed that on or about the : 20th day of October Last past Samuell Pollard & Abigail his wife with several of their children Came into the Towne of Lyn & Came from the Towne of Taunton wher they Properly belong or had their Last Residence


Therfore at a Meeting of the selectmen of Lyn December the : 15th 1707 : you are hereby apointed to warn the above sd Samuell Pollard & Abigail his wife to Depart out of our Towne with their Children forthwith or they shall be proceeded with as the Law Directs & Make Return with your Doings therin - John Butrill Clerk
