Capt. William Barrett of Hose 2, Pat rick Ducey of Hose 2, and Fred Bodge of Hose 3 were overcome by smoke at the Salem Fire which swept most of Salem. The Peabody Fire Dept. was given much praise by the Salem Dept. for their heroic work in helping them corner the fire, which threatened North Salem.
