The Playgrounds had a successful season under Mr. Anthony Williams who replaced Mr. Donald Carroll. The children had two trips this year, one to Roger Williams Park and another to Purgatory. Arts and crafts were taught and inter-park baseball was enjoyed.

It is hoped in 1962 as requested by interested taxpayers in the South End that we acquire from the Selectmen, the brick school area for a playground and eliminate the Oliver Street School play- ground which was not available for use this year. Money will have to be spent to grade the back part and repair the fence around it and install the equipment and it should prove to be a good play- ground area for the children in this section.

Report of Sealer of Weights and Measures

To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:

I submit my report as Sealer of Weights and Measures for the year ending December 31, 1961.

I notified in compliance with the provisions of Section 41, Chapter 98 of the General Laws of Massachusetts, as amended giving notice to all persons, that all scales and measuring devices, for the purpose of buying and selling goods, wares and merchan- dise, to be brought in, and these devices be tested, adjusted and sealed. I then inspected all places of business in Milford.

155

It is of course necessary to re-weigh pre-packaged foodstuffs at regular intervals. Included in these checks are meats, vegetables, milk, butter, flour and sundry foods.

In checking 2500 packages of foodstuffs, I found 1825 correct, 525 underweight and 150 overweight.
