Annual Report

Report of Trustees of Town Library

The Trustees wish to congratulate the Town on the in- creased interest shown in our Library by the citizens. Through the aid of the School Committee we have been able to establish what are practically branch libraries at most of the school houses where books can be obtained by the neighboring citizens from the school teacher. We shall continue this arrangement the ensuing year.

We have added as many books to the Library as our limited appropriation would allow and would urge increased liberality in the appropriation for the ensuing year.

Owing to the limited amount of money at our command we are unable to purchase many books of reference or in fact books of any kind except works of fiction which are published at popular prices. We should be pleased to add a few historical works and books of travel and biography if you will only give us the money so to do.

Mr. A. E. Dean has kindly contributed three more. volumes of Harper's Monthly which we have had bound and placed on the shelves.

Mr. Dean has kindly given us these magazines for several years thus enabling us to place on our shelves many volumes of good reading from the best authors ..

As to our financial standing will refer you to the Treasurer's Report.

We would strongly urge a larger appropriation for the coming year. The Town has a library of which it may well be proud.

Respectfully submitted,

JOSEPH HOWLAND, Trustee.
