The Annual Town Meeting was called to order at 7 :45 o'clock P. M. by Moderator William F. Rogers.
Article 1. Voted to elect seven members of the- School Fund Committee (for three years).
Herbert F. Kneeland, Arthur L. Hale, William H. Heath, Elmer E. Abercrombie, Otis B. Oakman, Henry F. Arnold, John W. Harding, elected and sworn.
Voted to elect three Measurers of Wood and Weigh --- ers of Hay.

Article 2. Voted that the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen be, and hereby is authorized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenues of the financial year beginning January 1, 1925, and to issue a note or notes therefor payable- within one year.

Article 3. Voted that the Town Treasurer be, and is hereby made custodian of all moneys of the several Departments of the Town; the Board of Water Com- missioners are hereby instructed to elect the Town Treasurer, Treasurer of the Water Department; the Selectmen are hereby instructed to require from the Treasurer such a bond as in their judgment is neces- sary for the safety of such moneys; that the Treasurer be held harmless on his bond from any loss caused by the failure of any National Bank or Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit with the approval of the Selectmen.

Resolved : That in the death of Mr. William May, this Town has lost a valued citizen, upright and con -. scientious, one who was always keenly alive to the best interests of Braintree, possessing the respect and good- will of all. That his fellow-townsmen in town meeting assembled, hereby express their deep regret at his passing and extend to his widow the assurance of their sincere sympathy in her bereavement.

Voted, that there be raised and appropriated the sum of $360,000.00 for the purpose of constructing, furnishing, and equipping a new high school building on land already purchased for the same, and there also be raised and appropriated the sum of $106,500.00 for the purpose of constructing, furnishing and equipping a new eight-room grade school building with assembly hall, on the "Noah Torrey Site" and to meet said ap- propriations there be raised in the tax levy of the cur- rent year the sum of $15,000.00 and that the Treas- urer with the approval of the Selectmen be, and hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of $451,500; of said sum to be borrowed $300,000 to be under authority of, and in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 41 of the Acts of 1921, such notes or bonds shall bear on . their face the words "Braintree School Loan, Act of 1920." $151,500.00 under authority of and in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44 of the General Laws, and issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, all of said bonds or notes to be payable in

accordance with the provisions of Chapter 41 and said Chapter 44 or either of them, so that the entire amount authorized to be borrowed under this vote shall be paid in not more than twenty years from the date of issue of the first bond or note, or at such earlier dates as the Treasurer and Selectmen may determine, and that a committee of seven be appointed by the Mod- erator to act for and in behalf of the Town with full powers to employ architects, sécure bids, and let con- tracts in the name of the Town, and to do all and any acts necessary to construct and equip said buildings within the aforesaid appropriations.
Voted, by Mr. Lakin that a vote be taken on this motion at 10 :15 o'clock if not sooner reached.
Voted, on motion of Mr. Hunt that this vote be taken by use of the check-lists.
Voted, on motion of Mr. Bryant that the Moderator be instructed to appoint such men in such numbers as he deems necessary to receive and count said ballots.
At 9:55 P. M. the polls were declared open.
At 10:55 P. M. voted on motion of Mr. Miller that the polls be closed.
Result of the ballot as follows:
Whole number of votes, 870.
Yes, 616. No. 254.
The Yes vote being more than two-thirds of the total vote, the aforesaid motion of Mr. Arnold was de- clared carried in the affirmative. Mr. Miller moved a reconsideration; not carried.
