In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabi- tants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in Town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said Brain- tree.


On Monday, the twenty-fifth day of May, 1925, at seven-thirty five o'clock in the evening, to act on the following articles, namely :


Article 1. To hear and act upon the report of any committee and to choose any committee the Town may think proper.


Article 2. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the removal of snow.


Article 3. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the expenses of the Selectmen's Department.

Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the insurance under the Employees' Compensation Act.


Ar ticle 5. To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for suitable signs and signals.


Article 6. To see what sums of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the care, planting and removal of trees.


Article 7. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to defray the expense of printing the Assessors' valuation lists, or such re- sume thereof as the Town shall determine.


Article 8. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for miscellaneous expenses.


Article 9. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for land damages resulting from taking of any land for highway pur- poses.


Article 10. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purchase and installation of new fire alarm boxes.


Article 11. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction of a drain on Wilmarth Road, or to see if the Town will take any action relative to an appropriation for drainage on said road.


Article 12. To see if the Town will ratify its vote passed at the annual town meeting of 1925 under articles 88 and 89 of the warrant therefor notwith- standing the said vote may not be within the scope of

said article 89 relating to the acquiring of land and the constructing of a new grade school building in Precinct 1.


You are directed to serve this warrant by posting true and attested copies thereof in three public places in each Precinct in said Town of Braintree, ten days at least before said twenty-fifth day of May, 1925, and by publishing the same twice in the Braintree Ob- server.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this war- rant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk be- fore the said meeting.

The Town met in accordance with the foregoing warrant.


The meeting was called to order at 7:35 o'clock P. M., by William F. Rogers, Moderator.


Article 1. The Appropriation Committee presented their report with recommendations.


Voted to receive the report and that the same be considered in connection with all other articles.


Article 2. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $3,000.00 for the removal of snow.


Article 3. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $300.00 for expenses of the Selectmen's Department.

Article 4. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $650.87 for insurance under the Employees' Com- pensation Act.


Article 5. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,862.00 for suitable signs and signals.


Article 6. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,435.00 for the care, planting and removal of trees.


Article 7. Voted to indefinitely postpone all action under this article.


Article 8. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,115.00 for miscellaneous expenses.

Article 10. Voted to refer to the next Annual Town Meeting.


Article 11. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $130.00 for the construction of a drain on Wilmarth Road.


Article 12. Voted that the vote of the town passed at the Annual Town Meeting of 1925 under Articles 88 and 89 of the Warrant therefor, be, and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, notwithstanding the said vote may not have been within the scope of the said Article 89 relating to the acquiring of land and the constructing of a new grade school building in Precinct One.


Four hundred fifty-one voted in favor of ratifica- tion and none opposed, the Moderator declared the vote carried unanimously.

WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING

inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in Town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said Braintree.


On Tuesday, the tenth day of November, 1925, at seven forty-five o'clock in the evening, to act on the following articles, namely :


Article 1. To hear and act upon the report of any committee and to choose any committee the Town may think proper.


Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Chapter 130 of the laws of 1925, rela- tive to the establishment of building lines, or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to repair and rebuild Granite Street from Five Corners to Pond Street, or any part thereof, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the same.


Article 4. To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate for the purpose of providing class room facilities for conducting classes in the As- sembly Hall of the Penniman School.


Article 5. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the expenses of the Planning Board in preparing plans for zoning the Town, as provided by law.


Article 6. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the payment to the County of Norfolk of the Town's share of the ex- pense of the construction of the Quincy Avenue-Mona- tiquot River Bridge, so-called, in accordance with a de- cree of Court, dated October 16th, 1925.


Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectment to lay out, as a Town way Elmlawn Road, so-called, leading from Elm Street.

In accordance with the foregoing warrant the Town met at the time and place specified. The meeting was called to order at 7:40 o'clock P. M., by William F. Rogers, Moderator.


Article 1. Voted to consider this article in conjunc- tion with all other articles in the Warrant.


Article 2. Voted to accept Section 37 of Chapter 82 of the General Laws, as amended by Chapter 130 of the Acts of 1925 relative to the establishment of building lines.

Article 5. Referred to next Annual Town Meeting. Article 6. Voted to appropriate the sum of $47,000.00 from the Excess and Deficiency Fund for the payment of this Town's share of the expense of building the Quincy Avenue and Monatiquot River Bridge.


Article 7. Voted to instruct the Selectmen to lay out as a Town way, Elmlawn Road, so-called, leading from Elm Street.


Article 8. Referred to next Annual Town Meeting.


Article 9. Voted that the Selectmen be authorized to remove the drinking fountain located in Storr's Square, or make such other disposition of the same as they deem best.

Voted, on motion of Mr. French that the reading of the records of the last meeting be waived.

Article 6. Voted to appropriate for expenses of Town Clerk's Department, $800.00.


Article 90. Voted, on motion of Mr. Arnold that a committee of 5 be appointed by the Moderator to bring in a report to the Town at its next Annuual Meet- ing, of a method for, and costs of acquiring such addi- tional land and sites for grade school purposes as they may deem advisable, and a plan for and estimates of such additions as may be necessary to any grade schools at that time.


Article 91. No action necessary.


Article 92. Voted to appropriate, to be expended on Plain Street Cemetery, $550.00.


Article 93. For payment of Town Debts:


(Schools, $10.000.00, Town Hall, $2,000.00; Hos- pital, $1,000.00; Land Damages, $5,000.00; Electric Light, $9,931.00)-$27,931.00.

Article 94. Voted to appropriate for miscellaneous. expenses, $4,232.00.

Article 95. Voted, that the Town accepts with grateful appreciation, the generous gift of her son who So thoughtfully gave of his substance for the good of its present citizens as well as of those to come.


Voted, that the annual park bequest as provided in the will of the late W. E. Hollis be spent under the direction of the park commissioners.


Article 96. For Post 87, G. A. R., $200.00; for Post 86, A. L., $100.00, and for Lennen Murray Post, V. F. W., $100.00, to assist them in defraying the expenses of Memorial Day.


Article 97. For insurance under the Employees' - Compensation Act, $1,500.00.


Article 98. For premiums on insurance policies, Fire and Liability, $1,554.82.


Article 99. Voted, to appropriate for engineering, $2,801.00, and that the Town Engineer be instructed to prepare plans for the elimination of the dangerous corners at Tremont Street and Central Avenue and present the same at the next Annual Meeting.


Article 100. Voted, to appropriate for land dam- ages taken for highways, $1,500.00.


Article 101. For suitable signs and signals, $1,016.00.


Article 102. "Act to permit sports on the Lord's Day," not accepted.


Article 103. Voted, that the Selectmen be in- structed to lay out a public landing place on the water front of the playground in Precinct Three.


Article 104. Voted, to appropriate $100.00 for necessary repairs to the American Legion Building and that the Selectmen be instructed to lease the building for the term of five years to Post 86, American Legion.


Article 105. No action necessary.

Article 106. Voted, to accept Section 77 of Chap- ter 32, Paragraph (B), General Laws, providing that "laborer" shall include foremen, inspectors, mechanics, ·draw-tenders, assistant draw-tenders and store-keep- ers, but that no such person shall receive more than "four hundred ($400.00) dollars per year.


Article 107. Voted, to instruct the Selectmen to lay out, as a Town way, Waldron Road, so-called, run- ning in a westerly direction from Washington Street, under the direction of the Board of Survey.


Article 108. Voted, to instruct the Selectmen to lay out, as a Town way, Hill View Road, so-called, running in a westerly direction from Washington Street, under the supervision of the Board of Survey.


Article 109. Voted, to appropriate for a Reserve Fund, $6,000.00.


Article 5. Voted, on motion of Mr. French that a committee of 5 be appointed by the Moderator to con- .sult with the Selectmen with a view to making ar- rangements for the Town to participate in the Ter- centenary to be held in Quincy in June of this year.


Moderator appointed Jonathan W. French, Ells- worth Abercrombie, Hon. A. E. Avery, Mrs. Mabel F. Knight and Mrs.'Mabel F. Rogers.


Mr. Avery offered the following resolution :


Resolved: That this meeting protest against the taking away of the crossing tender or tenders along ·the South Shore Branch of the N. Y., N. H. & H. R. R. in Braintree.


Voted, to adopt the above resolution.


Voted, to accept the report of the committee on school-housing, thus discharging the said committee.

Voted, that the Town appropriate the aggregate sum of $1,031,484.21, and that $505,049.74 of that sum be raised by taxation in the current year.
