It seems to me very fitting and proper to recognize at this, the Annual Town Meeting of Braintree, the loss.

the Town of Braintree has sustained in the passing away of our fellow citizen Herbert F. Kneeland, and I move, Sir, that the Town adopt the following resolu- tion :
"Resolved" That through the passing away of Herbert F. Kneeland, our Town has lost one of its most prom- inent and valued citizens. Thoroughly and interested in everything that pertained to the development and upbuilding of the Town, he had served on many com- mittees, notably as Trustee of the School Fund, Trus- tee of the Thayer Public Library and Chairman of the School Committee. It is further resolved that this Resolution be spread upon the records of the Town and a copy sent to his family with the sympathy of a unanimous vote of his fellow citizens.

Mr. Oakman introduced the following resolutions, on the death of William Carter Harrison. "1871-1927. Born in Philadelphia, but practically a life-long resi- dent of Braintree, educated in her schools and Thayer Academy, Mr. Harrison died in 1927, after a life spent-first in the employ of the Fore River Company, and later as a Government Inspector at their plant.
Always quiet and unassuming, he was a man of sound judgment and held in the highest esteem by all who came in contact with him.
A service of fifteen years as a member of the Board of Water Commissioners, four of them as its Chairman, gave Mr. Harrison a grasp of the affairs of the Water Department which he used to the best advantage of the Town.

We testify to our appreciation of his able and con- scientious service by spreading this minute on the rec- ords of the Town and sending a copy of it to his family.

Article 108. Mr. Fitzgerald, as Chairman of the Committee appointed at the annual meeting of 1927, to investigate the question of extending the water mains on Grove Street, from Plain Street to Columbian Street, and made a motion that the report be accepted. So voted. He then offered the following motion and it was voted that the Water Commissioners be and they hereby are instructed to lay water mains on Grove Street between Plain and Columbian Streets and fin- ance the work from the revenue of the water depart- ment-provided the Commonwealth or one or more political subdivisions thereof authorize by legislative enactment or otherwise the relocation and reconstruc- tion of said Grove Street during the year of 1928.
