Article 27. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money from the income and revenue of the Water Department of the Town of Braintree for the general operating expenses of the Town; and to see if the Town will vote to authorize the Water Commissioners to transfer the said sums of money to the Town Treasurer to be used to defray the general operating expenses of the Town, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 28. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to appropriate from the income of the Elec- tric Light Department for the Depreciation Fund; for operating expenses, renewals, repairs and new con- struction, or take any action relative thereto.


1. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from the income of the Electric Light Department, the sum of $300.00 for salaries of the Electric Light Commissioners; the sum of $27,816.01 for the Depre- ciation Fund; and the sum of $251,402.77 together with the unexpended balance of the year 1935 of $2,716.01, for operating expenses, renewals, repairs and new construction.


2. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate $2,639.49 in settlement of the bills of the vari- ous Town Departments due the Electric Light Depart- ment for the years 1933 and 1935. The unpaid bal- ance of $1,987.82 from 1933 is made up of Fire De- partment charges, Skating Rink, and Welfare charges. The 1935 balance of $651.67 represents the Welfare charges for that year.

Article 29. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money from the income and revenue of the Electric Light Department of the Town of Braintree for the general operating expenses of the Town; and to see if the Town will vote to authorize the Electric Light Commissioners to transfer the said sum of money to the Town Treasurer to be used to defray the general operating expenses of the Town, or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 30. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the Sewer De- partment the present year, to be expended by the Board of Sewer Commissioners, and act on anything relating thereto.


Article 31. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of financing the construction of sanitary sewerage works in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 17 of the Acts of 1930 and authorize and direct the Sewer Commissioners to accept on behalf of the Town, for use in carrying out such project, a Federal grant of money pursuant to the Emergency Relief Appropria- tion Act of 1935; and authorize the Sewer Commis- sioners to construct said project and contract with re- spect thereto; and authorize the treasurer, with the approval of the selectmen, to borrow such sums as may be necessary to meet any appropriation made; or take any action relative thereto.


RECREATION


Article 32. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the general uses of the Board of Park Commissioners the coming year, or take any action relative thereto.

Article 33. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purpose of Grading, Draining and Constructing a Base Ball Field and Foot Ball Field at Watson Park, or take any ac- tion relative thereto.


Article 34. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purpose of Grading, Draining and Constructing a Base Ball Field and Foot Ball Field in the rear of the Braintree High- lands School, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 35. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the money necessary to extend the 7-foot Chain Link Galvanized Iron Wire 2-inch mesh fence, running Northerly a distance of 45 Feet; thence 100 feet Easterly along the Westerly boundary of the Hollis Field, and Westerly a distance of 82 feet on the Southerly side of entrance to Hollis Field.


Article 36. To see what action the Town will take in regard to bills contracted in excess of appropria- tions in connection with an E. R. A. project on the Adams Street Playground.

Article 37. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the improvement of the Cemetery the present year, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 38. ON PETITION. To see if the Town in accordance with Chapter 114, Section 34 of the General Laws, will authorize the use of the follow- ing parcels of land for burial purposes as an extension

of the present Blue Hill Cemetery. Plot No. 6 con- taining about 5.10 acres of land, Plot No. 5 contain- ing about 12.35 acres of land and Plot No. 1 contain- ing about 32,850 square feet of land all shown on Plan No. 2052 in the Assessor's Office of the Town of Brain- tree. Also the easterly part of Plot No. 4 shown on As- sessors' plan No. 2053 being more specifically shown on sketch No. 261 on file in the Engineer's Office of the Town of Braintree containing about ten (10) acres of land, being shown on said sketch as "Plan of land in Braintree, Mass., dated October, 1920, by George H. Wetherbee, Jr. C. E." Also another par- cel of land bounded southerly by West Street 300 feet; westerly by Blue Hill Cemetery 600 feet; north- erly by the parcel just above described 300 feet; and easterly by said Plot No. 1 and land of Pierce 600 feet. For title to this last parcel see deed from Charles Q. Hunt, et ux, to Blue Hill Cemetery, dated August 30, 1927, recorded with Norfolk Deeds, Book 1759, Page 559. Containing about 4 1-7 acres of land.


Article 39. ON PETITION. To see if the Town in accordance with Chapter 114, Section 34 of the General Laws, will authorize the use of the follow- ing parcel of land for burial purposes as a new ceme- tery to be known as BLUE HILL MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY, or otherwise. A certain parceĆ­ of land situated off West Street, Granite Street and Wood Road, formerly called Purgatory Road, in Braintree, County of Norfolk, containing 204.15 acres of land, be the same or less; and bounded: Northerly by land of Aage K. Hansen; Easterly by land of Antonia Avi- tabile; Southerly by land of Laura G. Pierce, et al; Westerly by land of Peter E. Cahill; Southerly by land of Peter E. Cahill; Easterly by land of Peter E. Cahill and Laura G. Pierce, et al; Southerly by land of Oranna Drollett and Blue Hill Cemetery; Easterly by

land of Lena Heurlin ; Southerly by land of Lena Heur- lin; Southwesterly by land of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Blue Hills Reservation. The northwest erly boundary being the Quincy and Braintree Town Line. Said parcel is more particularly bounded and shown on a plan entitled "Plan of Land in Braintree" scale 200 feet to an inch. July 19, 1926, Ernest W. Branch, Civil Engineer.


SOLDIERS' BENEFITS


Article 40. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for Soldiers' Relief, State Aid and Military Aid, and Me- morial Day Observance, the present year, or take any action relative thereto.


PUBLIC WELFARE


Article 41. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the PUBLIC WELFARE DEPARTMENT the present year, including Aid for Dependent Mothers, and Adequate Assistance to Certain Aged Persons under the provi- sions of Chapter 118A, Acts of 1931, or take any ac- tion relative thereto.


HIGHWAYS


Article 42. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the support of the Highway Department, including labor, repairs to highways, Town Ways and Bridges; also, for repairs and building sidewalks, stone roads and removal of Snow, Oiling and Tarring of Streets; pur- chase of equipment for said department or take any action relative thereto.

Article 43. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction of Sidewalks on Hobart Avenue, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 44. To see if the Town will vote to accept as a Town Way, EDGEMONT ROAD, so-called, run- ning easterly from Shaw Street, as laid out by the Board of Selectmen, and raise or borrow and appro- priate a sum of money for the improvement of the said way.


Article 45. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the purpose of leasing, or the purchase of a certain par- cel of land in Braintree for the use of the Highway Department or take any action relative thereto.


Article 46. To see if the Town will vote to con- struct a DRAIN on Commercial Court, Precinct Three. and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the im- provement of the same.


Article 47. To hear the report of the Selectmen relative to the laying out of a part of (NEW) KING HILL ROAD, from Pond Street to Granite Street, un- der the provisions of Chapter 82 of the General Laws, and to see if the Town will vote to accept said Street, as and for a public way, and will authorize the Select- men to take by eminent domain, or acquire by pur- chase, any land necessary for said laying out; provide the sum or sums necessary to pay the cost of Land Damages thereof, or take any action relating thereto.

MISCELLANEOUS


Article 48. To see if the Town will vote to author- ize the Selectmen to sell, after first giving notice of the time and place of sale by posting such notice of sale in some convenient and public place in the Town fourteen days at least before the sale, property taken by the town under tax title procedure, provided the Selectmen or whomsoever they may authorize to hold such public auction may reject any bid which they deem inadequate, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 49. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of CENTER STREET; said money to be used in con- junction with any money which may be alloted by the State or County, or both, for this purpose; or take any other action in relation thereto.


Article 50. To see what sum or sums of money the Town will appropriate to reimburse the Estate of Ellen Brown to compensate her estate for the use of premises by the Sewer Commission and for the Town to deposit refuse and other material thereon, or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 51. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to collect ashes and refuse throughout the Town and appropriate a sum of money for the same.


Article 52. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the expenses of the Planning Board, or take any action relative thereto.

Article 53. To see what action the Town will take in regard to prohibiting swimming and bathing from the property of the Water Department at Sunset Lake.


Article 54. To see what sum of money will be raised and appropriated for police protection at Water Department Property at Sunset Lake.


Article 55. To see if the Town will vote to author- ize the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Se- lectmen, to receive gifts in the form of contributions and agreed contributions, to be applied in reduction of the general operating expenses of the Town for the current fiscal year.


Article 56. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of financing the reconstruction of Dam at outlet of Great Pond and the clearing and land takings around the pond necessary to raise the water level four feet and authorize and direct the Board of Water Commission- ers to accept on behalf of the Town, for use in carry- ing out such project, a Federal grant of money pur- suant to the Emergency Relief Appropriation Acts of 1935 and authorize the Board of Water Commission- ers to construct said project and contract with respect thereto, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 57. To see if the Town will pay any and all land, grade and drainage damages which may be caused by or result from the laying out and construc- tion by the State Department of Public Works of a bridge and approaches to abolish the grade crossing of Union Street with the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad and will authorize the Board of Se-

lectmen to sign an agreement therefor in behalf of the Town with said Department, or take any other action thereto.


Article 58. To see if the Town will make an ap- propriation on account of land, grade and drainage damages which may be caused by or result from the laying out and construction of a bridge and approaches to abolish the grade crossing of Union Street with the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad, or take any other action relating thereto.


Article 59. To see if the Town will request the Department of Public Works of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to submit to the Secretary of Agri- culture a project for the abolition of the grade cross- ing of Union Street with the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad for construction with funds ap- portioned to the Commonwealth under the Emergen- cy Relief Appropriation Act of 1935 and will agree with said Department that if such a project is approv- ed and constructed by the Department and the Sec- retary of Agriculture it therefore, at its own cost and expense, will maintain the project in a manner satis- factory to them or their authorized representative and will make ample provision each year for such main- tenance, and will authorize the Board of Selectmen to sign such a request and agreement in behalf of the Town, or take any other action relating thereto.


Article 60. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will adopt, and memorialize other Towns and Cities within the Commonwealth, and the Great and General Court, urging them to adopt the substance of the fol- lowing resolutions, or to see what action the Town will take with reference thereto :-


RESOLVED: That in the methods to be used in constructing and repairing our individual properties, those methods be adopted which will employ men, rather than utilize machinery, to the exclusion of man- ual labor.


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED :- That in all con- templated projects of larger proportions to be done under contract, a stipulation be included in each con- tract which shall specify what work is to be done by hand labor, and what is permitted to be done by ma- chinery :---


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED :- That in all work to be carried on by the several municipalities, such means be used as will absorb those at present unem- ployed, and thereby release the Federal Government from the obligation, make to restore confidence throughout the Country; besides curtailing the elab- orate work of administration which now causes the extra burden of expense to the people.


You are directed to serve this Warrant by posting true and attested copies thereof in three public places in each Voting Precinct in said Town of Braintree, ten days at least before said second day of March, 1936, and by publishing the same once each week for two successive weeks in the Braintree Citizen, the first publication to be at least eight days before said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this War- rant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk before said meeting.
