Mr. Mooney offered the following resolution : That no contracts be let to any outside contractor who is not a resident of this Town for the repair, renovation or for new buildings in connection with the Town of Braintree and that the sub-contracts as far as possible should be done by residents or taxpayers of this Town. ARTICLE 30.


Voted: That the Town appropriate from the in- come of the Electric Light Department the sum of $26,550.00 for the Depreciation Fund; and the sum of $200,799.00 together with th eunexpended balance of the year 1934 of $7,288.44 for operating expenses, renewals, repairs and new construction; and that the Town accept from the Electric Light Department the sum of $23,011.49 to apply to the 1935 Tax Levy, the same to be paid into the treasury of the Town on re- ceipt of settlement of the bills of the various Town de- partments due the Electric Light Department for the year 1934. This amount will be credited to the old Appropriation Account, carried on the books of the Electric Light Department, and will be the final and full payment of same. Carried 8:51.

Cahill, be appointed a com- mittee of one to present to the Legislature forthwith and under suspension of the rules if possible, if not at the present session, at the next sessionf of the Legis- lature, a bill to repeal Chapter 321 of the Acts of 1934 which was the Town Manager form of govern- ment which the Town of Braintree had an opportunity to vote on this year.

UNDER ARTICLE 2.


Mr. Van Zandt offered the following Resolution: WHEREAS, it is recognized that the American Le- gion will be an important factor for good in the community life of this Nation through the many years to come, and,


WHEREAS, it is realized that all Posts of the Ameri- can Legion have heeded the call for par- ticipation in certain activities for the betterment of the community and for such participation have need of suitable premises and quarters in which to per- form the functions of their association, and,


WHEREAS, Braintree Post, No. 86, Department of Massachusetts, The American Legion does enjoy the right to the use of such premises and quarters in the building and grounds of the so-called Legion Building, sometimes known as the Union School Building, located at the corner of Hollis Avenue and Washington Street in Braintree, and,


WHEREAS, the said Braintree Post No. 86, Depart- ment of Massachusetts, The American Legion, has invested considerable time and money in adapting the premises hereinafter described to its use in that , period of time elapsed since its first oc- cupancy in January of 1921;


BE IT RESOLVED, that the citizens of Braintree in Town Meeting assembled to hereby vote to lease to Braintree Post No. 36, Depart- ment of Massachusetts, American Le-

gion, the Legion Building, so-called, and grounds of the same, for a term of five years, dating from the eighteenth day of January, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirty-six at a rental of One Dollar per year, reserving, as in the past, one room for a Polling Place for Precinct Two and this meeting does direct the Se- lectmen of Braintree to execute such lease on behalf of the Town of Braintree. Carried - 10:02.

Moved : That there be raised appropriated the sum of $675.00 for a new automobile for Superintendent. There being 327 in the affirmative and 95 in the nega- tive, the motion was carried.


Mr. Orall moved: That this automobile be pur- chased from some dealer or taxpayer in the Town of Braintree, other things being equal. Carried 10:24.

Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $25,000.00 to cover the Town's share of ma- terials ,trucking, and other necessary expenses in con- nection with E. R. A. projects as may be approved by the Finance Committee.


In case funds are no longer required for E. R. A. projects, the balance may be expended for work in the several departments to relieve unemployment to the extent approved by said committee. Carried.

ARTICLE 21.


Voted: That the sum of $1,100.00 be raised and appropriated for the payment of settlement awarded of Marie G. Richardi in accordance with the accept- ance agreement signed by her attorney. Carried.

ARTICLE 12.


The Finance Committee rendered a report as to the Town's liability on the unpaid bills covered by this article. The report is summed up as follows: "The Town is not liable for the payment of these bills wherein they exceed the appropriation made by the Town and authority for that payment is now vested only in this Town Meeting".


Voted : That the Town raise and appropriate sums of money to pay such bills as during the discussion they may approve, as remain now unpaid in the years 1931, 1932, 1933 and 1934. Carried.


Moved : That the sum of $800.00 be raised and ap- propriated for the payment of materials, trucking, la- bor, and rental on C. W. A. project 812 and that the Selectmen be authorized to issue a warrant on the Treasurer for payment of this sum if and when it be accepted in full settlement of all unpaid bills for ma- terials, trucking, supervision, and rental, rendered to the Town of Branitree in connection with C. W. A. project 812. Not carried - 10:50.


Voted: That there be raised and appropriated the sum of $9,152.40 for the payment of bills received from other cities and towns for welfare and old age assistance rendered to former residents of the Town of Braintree and that the Selectmen be authorized to issue warrants on the Treasurer of the Town of Brain- tree for the payment of these bills in accordance with the following list, if and when said towns either have no obligation to the Town of Braintree or agree to make settlement in full to the Town of Braintree for any and all bills we have rendered to them at the time we make payment to them.
