Article 59. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will adopt, and memosialize other Towns and Cities within the Commonwealth, and the Great and Gen- eral Court, urging them to adopt the substance of the following resolutions, or to see what action the Town will take with reference thereto :-

aRESOLVED: That in the methods to be used in constructing and repairing our individual properties, these mehods be adopted which will employ men, rather than utilize machinery to the exclusion of man- ual, labor ..


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That in all con- templated projects of larger proportions to be done under contract, a stipulation be included in each con- tract which shall specify what work is to be done by hand labor, and what is permitted to be done by ma- chinery :--


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That in all work to be carried on by the several municipalities, such means be used as will absorb those at present unem- ployed, and thereby release the Federal Government from the obligation, made to restore confidence throughout the Country; besides curtailing the elabo- rate work. of administration which now causes the extra burden of expense to the people.


Article 60. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Sections 1, 3, 6, 7, and Sections 11 to 16 inclusive, of Chapter 142 of the General Laws, Tercentary Edition, or take any other action relative thereto.


You are directed to serve this warrant by posting true and attest copies thereof in three public places in each Voting Precinct in said Town of Braintree, ten days at least before said Fourth day of March, 1935, and by publishing the same one each week for two successive weeks in the Branitree Observer and the Braintree Citizen, the first publication to be at least eight days before said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this war- rant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk be- fore said meeting.

The polls were opened in all Precincts at five forty-five o'clock in the forenoon and were closed at three o'clock in the afternoon.

At the opening of the Polls the Ballot Boxes were inspeted and found to be empty and the registers set at zero (0). The keys were placed in charge of the Constables of their respective Precincts. The meet- ings were conducted in like manner and in accordance with the law.


At the close of the Polls, when all votes had been canvassed, counted, recorded and ballots sealed ac- cording to law, they were then forwarded to the Town Clerk's Office where the figures were tabulated, proved and the result declared by the Board of Regis- trars.

The Annual Town Meeting was called to order at 7:45 P. M. by Moderator William F: Rogers. The voters were checked on entering building - 1,245 present. Amplifiers were installed throughout the lower hall and lobbies for the convenience of the voters.


ARTICLE 1.


Voted: To elect three Measurers of Wood and Weighers of Hay. Charles G. Sheppard, Wilford F. Woodsum and R. Allen Gage elected.

Voted: That Article 2 be taken up in conjunction with other articles in the warrant.


ARTICLE 3.


Voted: That the Town Treasurer, with the ap- proval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1935, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew such note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in ac- cordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws; any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of the financial year beginning Jan- uary 1, 1935. Carried 7:51.


ARTICLE 4.

Mr. Andrews moved: No action-So voted.


ARTICLE 8.


Voted : That the Town will hold its treasurer harm- less on his bond for any loss which may arise from the failure of any National Bank or Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit, said Bank or Trust Company being designated by the Se- lectmen.


ARTICLE 9.


Voted : That the Town will hold its Collector harm- less on his bond from any loss which may arise from the failure of any National Bank or Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit, said Bank or Trust Company being designated by the Se- lectmen. Carried 7:57.

Mr. Andrews moved: That there be appropriated the sum of $40,000.00 for a Reserve Fund for extra- ordinary and unforeseen expenditures during the cur- rent year.


Mr. Foley moved: That Article 10 be laid on the table. Not carried.
