"The Board of Selectmen Braintree, Massachusetts
Dear Gentlemen :-
The following is a report of the work done by the Department .of Weights and Measures for the year 1938.
During the year of 1938, the Department sealed, adjusted or con- demned 465 weighing or measuring devices, from which $112.28 was received. This does not include the fees received for the licensing of hawkers, pedlers, and transient vendors, which is received by the Town Treasurer, and credited to the Department of Weights and Measures.
In addition to sealing devices, 492 inspections were made, which included the re-weighing of bread, butter, coal, and other commodities which are packaged for sale, the checking of pedler's licenses, the ·examination of ice cream boxes, cans and moulds and other measures for the determination of accurate measures.
This makes a total of 957 Inspections.
Very truly yours,
EARL H. ERVIEN.
